Default weird noise from rear brakes.

it is not the suspension b/c i had the TRD shocks and springs on the car and changed them out the tein ss-p and the noise is still there. basically when the car is cold it makes a really loud repeating squeeking noise when i hit the brakes. it only happens when the car is in forward motion and not in reverse. the pads look like they have alot of meat left on them. what im thinking is that i may have a warped rotor? what do u guys think?

its probably your rear sway bar. spray the endlinks with grease or something and check it out from there.

well, when you hit the brakes.. only the fronts are being used. unless you're using your E-brake, which engages the rear brakes. that's the only thing i can think of.. because my rear sway bar squeaked like crazy also.. i have to regrease it like twice a month. i think i need a new rear sway bar.. the endlinks are messed up.

^^^^ WHAT!?!? Of course the rear brakes activate when you hit the brake pedal. And that's what the OP is hearing, slap some anti noise stuff on the backs of the shims, and mounting brackets, that should fix it. The pads are probably shifting in the brackets and/or the shims causing them to make noise til they warm up more. Heat=Expansion=No noise in this case.

But to say that the rear brakes don't work unless you're using the parking brakes? Isn't true at all.

its unbelievable!!!!!!!

i have the thicking noise from the engine: toyota said: its normal!!!!!!!!!
i have noise when i depress the clutch : toyota said its normal...
i have a loud knocking noise when i hit the brake and toyota said its normal..................... my 2 year "toyota" has more annoying noise than a 5 year old pontiac and everything is normal?....

so i have a noise coming from the back.. its not a squeeking noise.. and i hear the noise every day every time i use my car. ( so its not gone after the breaks warmed up)

every time i press the break i hear 1 knocking sound...a guy from the service department said its because the brake pad is moving.. its normal ( they freak me out with this " its normal" bullsh#t)

im gonna have my 45k miles check up soon.. but to be honest... i just moved and for the next few months i'll have no money to spend on anything else besides all my needs.

you need to first check the run out of the disc surface and see if it's warped. If it isn't I'd use some sandpaper, and rough up the surface of the rotor, could be an uneven depositing of the brake pad material onto the surface causing your noise. That could also cause squealing when braking.
