TRD
Mandrel bent aluminum tubing that allows for smoother air flow into the engine increasing both horsepower and torque. Up to 5 horsepower improvement achieved on test vehicle. Reusable high-flow, low restriction air filter. Patented bypass valve that opens if the air filter ingests water saving the engine from water damage. Unique polished black chrome-like finish.

WEAPON R SECRET WEAPON

ntake system that performs better than any cold air intake, but with a short ram. The handsome intake features a 1 million mile limited warranty air filter, quick and easy direct fit installation, all parts necessary for install, and the best horsepower per dollar performance

Any thoughts on which would be better ? I know TRD is a popular name when it comes to upgrades but the "WEAPON" clearly states that it performs better than any cold air intake but with a short ram. Your opinion is greatly appreciated.

so if i were to spend the cash would it be worth it to get the TRD then ? or is INGEN just overall better ?

InJen is overall better, there was a dyno test done somewhere on scionlife where the Injen came up on top against its competitors. power wise Injen is the best. looks wise Top Fuel (IMO) is the best. TRD IMO is over priced for a CAI and WR is trash

if this is for a performance gain, it will be minimal, and not noticeable......cai however will improve your throttle response and give your engine a more aggressive sound.....if you ever plan on going FI, there's no point in getting a sr or cai....and if you do, just get whatever is cheapest...cause the power gains are only achieved very high in the rpm band

^^ good point.

I hope you dont expect the CAI or SRI to give you that "throw you into the seat" feel. because if so you will be very dissapointed.

Weapon R is trash? What do you have to base this statement off of?

ummmm weapon R is trash in general. I would never throw my money away with any of their products.

Good for you. My short ram was great, one of the best parts I bought for my car.

i've heard numorous times of people having problems with the WR intake like metal shavings coming off and ending up in the IM, and the fact that WR's customer service isnt anything to be proud about, and that the intake is just plain cheap. looks cheap, preforms cheap and is cheap, that intake will never see itself on my car. the only WR product i would ever buy is the header, but even then i would rather settle for the Tsudo 4-2-1 header, its the same thing except 300 bucks cheaper and w/o the WR name

When you buy TRD then you know you're getting quality, but as stated above I'd go with the Injen intake, that's the one i'll get eventually.

Weapon R is rice.

Injen, AEM, Typhoon

I've heard good things about.
Altho I don't think the TRD is all that bad either.

If people didn't take the time to clean it out, that is their problem. To my knowledge, there are no handmade intakes made for our car. All intakes could provide shavings. Second... who buys an intake for performance?

An intake is a piece of pipe with a hole for the MAF sensor. It really isn't this prestigious part that needs $260 to be spent on it.

But that is just me. And mine sounded kickass, so to each their own.

Actually, when you buy TRD your buying AEM but paying for the TRD name.

That was one guy on SL over a year ago and he ended up not blaming WR. The quality of the pipe is just as good as the AEM intake I bought for my last car. Come on there is not much to mess up on. The welds look good and every thing fits. As for customer Service, I haven't had to deal with them. The instructions were not as great as AEM but there is a DIY on SL that is really good. The intake looks like any other intake out there, that is not powder coated. Don't buy for performance because there really isn't any usable gain for any of the intakes. It sounds and looks cool. Just build the ghetto fab intake. That is what I would do if that post came out before I bought the WR.

WOW ! So i feel like i have started another debate that has probably already been discussed on other threads. lol. Anyways The WR, in my opinion seems to look good and according to the manufac. works better if you have the ram air hood. So which one will give me the best sound ? and will anyone get me any better gas mileage ?

honestly man, i would go with the Injen, you can use it as a CAI or SRI

whats CAI and SRI mean ?

davedavetC

CAI = Cold Air Intake
SRI = Short Ram Intake

Injen was the first on i had, then i had Fujita, and now im goin with Top Fuel

i Sold the injen because i lost my fenderliner and i got too scared that i would suck up water (wont be a problem if youhave the fenderliner)

got the Fujita from a friend but sold it later because i didnt like the chrome in the engine bay (i kinda wish i still had it, it was a nice intake)

Lookin to get the Top Fuel Power chamber because i love teh look of it, its Big, CF, and Top Fuel (so jdm :rofl: ) i think that intake will be the last intake i get (unless i go turbo which knowing my money situation wont happen)

happy shopping.
