xA in race style..am I the only one?
Could have sworn I already posted this but cannot find it for the life of me.
Anyway, I plan to start auto-xing my xA and I want to build it more towards a race style.
This means 15 inch flik blast c's with falken azenis tires, springs,sway bars/braces, etc.
Am I the only one that doesn't wish to make their xA with 17 or 18inch wheels, tv screens, subwoofers,etc?
I would rather the xA be a nice sports hatch with good handling characteristics like it's brother, the Vitz RS.

I'm more of the go guy but lets face it, our cars aren't that fast
.I want to auto-x my car and I have ran my car at the dragstrip. I really want my car to handle better and I already got tein s-tech, saving up for more suspension mods. But, im getting this great deal on 18's ASA wheels, so I'm going to use it for now until I can get some light forged wheels.
I'm not into the "bling" at all, guess I'm just too old. I go for only modifications that improve the handling and I do my own fabrication when I can.
As a side note, in real testing it has been proven that up to 17" wheels can improve handling but over that and it starts to go away. The wheels should be as light as possible of course and matched with light tires. My 17" wheel/tire combo weighs 4.5lb ea. more than the stock 15" steel wheel/tire combo so it's not too bad. Maybe some Kosei racing wheels in the future....

I'm more performance oriented, too. I've been trying to get the best time I can on the 1/4 mile without any modifications. Stock tires, stock engine parts... My lowest is 17.2s with a sustained 17.3s. I'm lacking in funds, so upgrades are slow...but I'm definitely performance oriented...

before i annouce the winners, i would like to say that i see a lot of potential in the contestants. the grand prize now goes to .....
don't worry, I'm feeling you on this one.. but unfortunately funds have to go else where for the moment... all I have are my lightweight 16" wheels and low profile tires to ride on some eibach springs... in due time... let me know what kind of results you have as I'm sure plenty of us would be interested..

to me, i think a 16" wheel is perfect!
cuz with a double lip, the face is a 15" face,
and u can get 16x8 and 16x9
at a 25 offset..
u can have plenty of tire on there..
if i had a xa, it would be 'race style' for sure with some
16's.. but they gotta be wide..

it depends on what you want. . . in terms of acceleration, a 16" rim will always be slower than a 15" of the same type, it's just physics. But what you lose in whp you will gain in handling/stability. A 16" or even 17" will have a much stiffer sidewall/tire and will flex less during hard cornering. . . but this is really important when you already have a tuned suspension. However a good driver with proper inflation in his tires will be able to perform just as well in the 15" wheels with thicker sidewalls.
I agree with you. . . I think 16" is the best compromise. In terms of looks, I personally think pubic hair thin tires are ugly, and fat SUV tires look just as bad. With the wheel itself, I don't think you can go too small(if you keep it 15" and up) and on the xA, as it is already a small car, and assuming you have it dropped.

With some Falken Azenis tires..those wheels only weigh at 12 pounds each. Plus I have always loved that design. It's a replica of the Spoon SW388.
Plus, staying at 15, those wheels are CHEAP. And so are the tires. Which is awesome. Because I'm a poor college student and need cheap things,haha.

if u get spoon replicas or 15" rims in general..
i suggest u get a 15x7..
u can run a 205/50 size tires PERFECT..
but if u rock those fake or cheap wheels..
u'll end up with a 15x6.5
205/50 will feel sloppy on there.. and 195 series is kinda thin..

I agree! Wider IS better! Ever since I put my springs in, I noticed this car is rock solid! Even cranckin the E-brake, the car slides nice and smooth without too much bouncy roll. . . but when I'm not deliberately trying to break loose, I notice the tires are always complaining.
I'm swapping out asap for some wider rims. . . either 16's or 15's. . .
