Alright i have this set up.. Greddy Evo 2 exhaust and DC sports headers.
as everyone knows.. you get RASP..
i just installed my headers last night and it serious sucks.. it sounds so bad..
im really dissapointed.. even with a break-in period.. i have already made my decision and i am taking out the header and puting back on my stock manifold..
But i do have a question.. can i elimate my heat shield and use thermal heat wrap?
i just want your guys input on this idea and if anyone has done it?
please give in your feedbacks
thanks

if you wanna keep the header, get some resonators welded into your midpipe

Don't do this. Somebody already tried wrapping their stock exhaust manifold and melted the catalytic converter inside. Had a real hard time scraping the wrap off so he could have the manifold replaced under warranty.

you dont have to wrap it....not like you are s/c'ed are you? unless you dont like the oem header look? then just leave the shield on

If you wrap the exhaust manifold, it will crack under extreme heat stress. Don't do it.

Doesn't putting resonators in just counteract what the headers are doing? Like doesn't it just restrict airflow which would take away the whole point of the headers?

taken from wikipedia
"A resonator is one part in exhaust systems that works with the muffler to reduce noise, by making sound waves "cancel each other out"[1]. The "exhaust note" is an important feature for many vehicle owners, so both the original manufacturers and the after-market suppliers use the resonator to enhance the sound."

Aftermarket resonators are just perforated-hole straight-through mufflers with packing. They won't restrict exhaust flow on our cars as long as the core diameter is 2.25" (non-turbo) or greater .

ah ok thanks. So there is a way to fix the rasp? Has anyone done this to test it out?
