stankubrick 10-21-2004, 08:54 AM looks much better :) I just ordered my spacer shims yesterday! How hard/easy was the shim install?
phantomxa 10-21-2004, 09:09 AM on a scale from 1-10 the instal was a 2..very easy...the only problem you might encounter is taking off the abs plug...but its still no biggie it took me an hour and a half to do..only because i was watching the boston game..GO BOSTON!
tschangrx7 10-21-2004, 12:55 PM What's a shim kit?
Will it allow the install of 10mm spacers?

The One Ton Garage rear spacer shims act like a wheel spacer, but instead of just spacing the rear wheels outward, they push out the whole rear hub assemblies.
you will still need spacers to push out the front since the shims are only for the rear.
tschangrx7 10-21-2004, 01:38 PM THANKS!
Munch 10-21-2004, 02:04 PM Looks much better now 8)

PandaIst 10-21-2004, 05:40 PM Looks nicer now :D . Maybe you could post a pic during the daytime so we could see it better.
I have to get the rear shims from onetongarage now.
phantomxa 10-22-2004, 12:34 AM i changed the dark images to some day time ones above.
phantomxa 10-22-2004, 12:37 AM hey pandaist..where in san diego are you from?...i go to school in san jose but im from Mira Mesa and imma be down there next week for halloween and to pick up my body kit. Just curious about the scion xa scene in s.d.
PandaIst 10-22-2004, 12:42 AM I'm from Southside of san diego. I live in Eastlake in the city of chula vista. Oh koo are you going to Scion Night San Diego too, and meet up at fusion cafe? I'll be going. The xA scene here isn't big compared to the xBs. I'll end up getting the rear shims from Van like yours. I hope by nov when i get my new rims.
Carlanga 10-22-2004, 12:48 AM I'm planing on installing the shims, but I don't know what combination of spacers to use all around 10mm or 5mm. Comments please :)
subcode 10-22-2004, 02:58 AM yeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh boyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
now it looks good....
bBted 10-22-2004, 03:02 AM sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet :D
BeQuietAndDrive 10-22-2004, 04:11 AM Do those spacers effect handling in any way? I have heard a few bad things about spacers before, although they do look nice.
bb_tOmmie_dd 10-22-2004, 04:59 AM my bad if i dont know but what do spacers do??? and how much are they?
phantomxa 10-22-2004, 05:36 AM i think the 10mm spacers and the shim kit will lokk best. however i needed both because the offset on mmy wheels are +40...the 10mm spacers WILL NEED longer studs, the stock studs only leave like 4-5 threads left to hold the bolt,...totally unsafe to drive on....but anyways this offset would look good on hondas but crappy on xa s ...the spacers are fitted in between the brake rotor and the wheel to push out the wheel and make it flush with the fender. hey pandist...nice ride by the way i was going to get some 16in slipstreams after i saw your xa but i didnt want to copy. also where did you get your hood? im looking to buy one soon. i want to go to scion night in socal but i have class and wont be there till the 25th...where do the xa s meet up down there?
ScionVan 10-23-2004, 03:18 AM I'm still impressed every time I see how big a difference just a simple 10mm can make on that rear wheel.. for those of you who have installed your own spacer shims i'm sure you can relate... it's just hard to capture in pics sometimes, but when you look at your car, you can just get a sense that the rear end appears wider and more "correct" when those wheels aren't all sunken in (ESPECIALLY on xAs with the flared shapes of those rear fenders!)...
hmmm someone mentioned my sister's car on the thread that pointed to this one.. unfortunately, a big rig changed lanes into her car while she was on her way down to socal last weekend, so it's pretty much considered a total loss now... just waiting to get confirmation from insurance. Luckily, no one was hurt, but it is a little disconcerting to think that these crazy big rigs aren't paying attention to other cars on the road sometimes!
PandaIst 10-25-2004, 10:47 PM The xA's in San Diego don't have a specific meet. But there are scion meets every wed night. The past 2 meets, i've been the only xA and the rest are xBs. We meet up at Fusion Cafe in clairemont mesa.
My rims aren't slipstreams though. They are replicas of mugens. I'm running 15" tenzo morphix for now. Soon getting rotas in same size. I just don't want to mention which ones.
As for my hood, i got it when i was sponsored by O.E tuning. My contract is up when them so i am no longer a sponsored car. I think they changed their company name though.
If you want a cf hood go contact fluxmr2spyder. He can get you one through FiberFx. Tell him pandaist sent you..hehe. Here's a link..

hotbox05 10-26-2004, 02:56 AM wow i love the look but damn 65 bucks is bank i think i'm gonna look for a cheapie alternative
phantomxa 10-26-2004, 08:58 AM $65 bucks well spent...i bought some universal spacers at pep boys that were $20 and were so sketchy i was too scared to drive on em....the shims seem to be safe and cheap alternative...
hotbox05 10-26-2004, 08:59 AM i'm waiting for someone to copy the onetongarage spacers then i'll buy . i am a broke ___ mofo
tCdestro 10-28-2004, 05:51 PM yo phantomxa...your ride looks dope...where did you get the paint to darken your head/tail lights...i'm intrested in doing something similar and just wanted to know if you got the paint online or somewhere else
scionmilktruck 10-28-2004, 05:56 PM Does OneTonGarage have a number to order? I want to order but I am still waiting on a reply :x .
tschangrx7 11-03-2004, 04:54 PM Phantomxa: How difficult / easy was removing / installing longer studs on the back?
PandaIst 11-03-2004, 05:40 PM I believe he used the rear shims in the rear instead of longer studs.
tschangrx7 11-03-2004, 05:44 PM I thought: rear shims + 10mm spacers, requiring longer studs....
its_ikon 11-09-2004, 01:43 AM everyone has been talking about these spacers. looks like i may need to get some now because it looks awesome
phantomxa 11-09-2004, 07:05 AM i am using both the shims and the spacers...and yes i would recommend getting longer studs..the stock ones leave only 4 threads.
tschangrx7 11-10-2004, 01:42 AM Was installing longer studs in back difficult?
