View Full Version : Question for those of you who had 1st gen xB...

Currently have the R3.0 06 xB and have been considering trading for the 08 xB. Mainly wanting something with more power as the 108 or whatever HP of the original xB just doesn't cut it.

Have been looking at other types of vehicles out there, but for the $$ the xB is still quite attractive when considering things like fuel economy and style.

I noticed the 08 xB steps up to a 2.4L engine putting out 158hp.

So for those of you who might have owned the previous gen xB...do you noticed any improvements in the power? Accelleration and so forth.

I realize the overall car is heavier and such, so that's why I'm asking if that 158HP feels any better than the first gen, or if it's still relatively weak/similar.

Thx.

Ya gas milage went down, but not that much. It's still good milage considering.

I wouldn't mind giving up a few miles as long as it feels a bit better from a stop and while speeding up.

The last time I merged onto the freeway with my old xB, I realized it was quite scary being that slow. The power difference is huge, no comparison. Of course, some people say it has too much power. It's like saying your girlfriend looks too good...

It's a night and day difference between the two. I do get around 3mpg less, but it's so worth it. Merging and passing aren't scary and don't have to be planned out anymore.

Mom has Gen1. Scary merging onto highways, etc. Gen2 power makes a huge difference, even with added weight.

As has already been stated there is a huge difference. Not only is it much easier to merge on highways and get into traffic but it's smoother overall. Having the AC running doesn't make a huge difference like it does on the gen1.

It is no rocket though. I had a Chevy Malibu loaded with 5 people being a pain in my a$$ one day and it stayed right on my rear up to 100.
