View Full Version : amsoil mnscionxb 10-11-2007, 01:03 AM anyone running amsoil yet 0w-20? how much was it ? uberspeed 10-11-2007, 04:11 AM Check out http://www.bobistheoilguy.com ScionFred 10-12-2007, 07:12 AM I think Amsoil is okay. If I could buy their best full-synthetic from a local store for a few bucks less than Mobil One, I'd consider using it. mnscionxb 10-12-2007, 01:02 PM yes i know wat you mean. i can get it for $7.00 a QT and $13.00 for a yr oil filter full syn oil filter.but i dont know about running it for 25,000 miles.maybe 10,000 you would just have to check it to see when it get dirty lookin. ScionFred 10-12-2007, 05:16 PM I wouldn't go more than 10,000 miles between oil/filter changes with any oil/filter, no matter what the manufacturer claims. Dirty looking oil isn't necessarily bad but unless you go through the hassle of taking a sample and having it analyzed, it's better to just change it. The primary reason I won't be using Amsoil is that I can get a 5 qt jug of Mobil One for $22 at Walmart. I bought a $10 Fram XL4967 filter for the first change but I think I'll go with another from here on. The Fram filter is smaller than the Toyota filter and I don't like that. whitebreadbox 10-17-2007, 11:44 PM i've run royal purple in every vehicle i've owned for years with not one problem. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1712299263246216338&q=royal+purple&total=152&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=1 check out this video. i'm sure you'll notice a blacked out Mobile 1 bottle in there. its a good oil, don't get me wrong, but i'm digging royal purple ScionFred 10-18-2007, 06:32 AM I've run at least a dozen different oils in at least a dozen different cars, motorcycles and trucks over the past 30 years with not one oil-related problem. Interesting infomercial. I wonder what the trick is? High Zinc content for metal to metal protection? Luckily, modern engines never have any direct metal to metal contact unless something goes very wrong. mnscionxb 10-23-2007, 07:57 PM i was at fleet farm yesterday and i seen amsoil for $5.99 a QT5w-20 and mobil 0-20w for $5.89 |
