Default Locking the doors with the xB running .... help

I absolutely can not stand that I can't lock my doors with my remote while the car is running. In other words, I want to leave my box running but lock the doors when, for example, I run into the store real quick.

Does anyone have a clue how to change this???

It's a safety measure to make sure you don't lock the keys in the car... I'm not sure how to bypass it, but I'm sure you could.

I think it's the key in the ignition that prevents it from locking.

I know I have had the same thought myself. Do we shut it off for 30 seconds, or leave it running? Do we add needless engine wear from startups, or waste a little gas and leave it running unlocked?

Get a remote start installed on it. The one I had on my truck let me hit the buttons to activate it and I could pull the key and it would remain running (keyless) for 10 minutes.

Or a car alarm with a RS - it does the same thing but if you step on the brake or accelerator, it immediately kills the engine and starts the alarm.

There are some states where it's illegal to leave it running/ keys in the ignition while unattended. I don't see the need unless you want to come out to your box being gone.

On winter mornings for warm-up I have to manually use
an extra key to lock door. Lock the rest, then close driver door
and lock from outside with key. Sorry, not sure how to by-pass
technically and use the FOB.

i vote for the remote start... i have it on my tC and i can lock it while its running.. i.e. make a quick deposit or pick something up.. anything less than 4 minutes.. id keep it on while i run and do it and lock the car.

Just lock it by the passenger door with it running.
the only problem is having to walk around the car to lock it.

This would make sense as with my first remote start ( BullDog ) if i unlocked the passenger side the entire car unlocked. Unlock the drivers side and only the drivers door would unlock.

Currently i have a different alarm system with remote start. I can hit the key fob and take my key out and lock the car while its still running. Open the door and the alarm goes off. Step on the brake and the car shuts off. I can program my car to start with the remote and run up to an hour! LOL

it must be a safety feature so you won't accidently lock your keys in the car...I have had several cars in the past, none would lock with the remote while the car was running.

If you had automatic up driver window you could lock it from the outside and then hit the close window and pull you arm out really quick. Only thing to do is train your dog to lock the doors after you get out.

My favorate is unlocking with the power locks then manually locking all the doors and get out but still have the rear hatch unlocked for unloading.
