I got a ticket yesterday morning for my HIDs. I was entering a parking garage and there was a cop inside the complex giving someone else a ticket. His partner sees my car and makes me pull over and asks me why my headlights are blue and green. Honestly, i dont think their that blue at all. Theyre 8000k. He tells me only cops can have blue lights. he then tells me to turn on my highs and my highs are yellow. so he then gives me a fix-it ticket for my lights. Im happy that its only a fix-it ticket but its still a big waste of time. any one else have this problem?

 

8000k is pretty blue, if you want a little blue go with 6000k and if you want to be really safe 4300k for white

 

did you just istalled for while??? cuz when i first installed on my 07 tc...it was green...then it warned up...turn to blue...

So I take it they are not D.O.T. approved?
If they are then they can't do anything about it.
If they aren't how do you get it inspected? All lights have to have D.O.T. stamped on them. At least in my neck of the woods. Hmmmm.

 

just because the light housing itself is DOT approved doesn't mean the bulb is.

No ticket with mine, but I agree 8000k would be blue. I have 6000k and I still think it's too blue in those projectors. 5000k is probably best.

 

yeah, just change the bulbs to 6000k and you'll be fine.

 

i have 8k and a blue led in my 08's that is very noticable and havn't had any problems and also my license plate leds. ( knock on wood)

i think I am gonna go 5000k in my 08 just to keep them away from me.......I don't want the blue look just brighter BMW looking projectors.....plus I am getting the VRD fogs and 3000k's in them too....should be enough light......but I do like how the blue looks when you see it.....

i am gonna do an orange bulb in the high beam running light to give it that glowing look.........I like orange......

i have had the licesne plate light like that for a while and the headlights as well
