Default Custom Kick Panels

I am surprised nobody offers these. I cannot for the life of me find any retailers of kick panels.

Am I missing someone or is it an item that nobody wants?

its an item that is such low demand that to make them would not be cost / time worthy for a company. they need to be custom made

I'm just surprised that not even anybody on here has been offering to do it.

There is every other thing made/sold between members here...just not the kick panels.

If I were to make some for 5 or 6 inch speakers would anybody be interested in purchasing them? Or what would you guys want on them? Lights? Speakers? Or just painted or something.

Basically what I want is similar to what Rocketgrl has....just a kick panel to hold 6.5's and tweeters to make the sound stage a little better.

..trying to find the thread..

It would be 40 - 50 dollars to customize one including gettin the rings made for the speaker and all the fiberglass and bondo work.

+25 for paint

OR

+20 for suede wrapped (very nice)

Total for both would be around $110 - $125. I say not bad.

kicks used to be really popular where i grew up about 8-10 years ago... especially in mustangs. they needed all the help they could get in getting a balanced sounding system. I had a set in my 93 GT but the thing is it was so uncomfortable on long trips to rest your legs around them that they were not worth it.. get a good component set and you don't even need them..

thats why i think i am going with DLS or some other higher end.. save the money you will spend on kicks and get good components and you will be just as happy

Also remember its not as easy as just making a pod and putting speakers in it. The purpose is to bring the front stage away from the ear, and ALSO ALIGN IT. If you do not have the speaker angled properly, it is going to sound absolutely horrible.

With something like this, unless you are an audio guru, you will not benefit by doing it yourself, or having just ANYONE do it for you. You need a pro to make them!

They'll be good..... they'll be good...

Im gonna make them in a way that they dont get in the way as much but in a way that theyll look real nice, and in a direction that itl stabalize the sound in the car more and increase the quality. Im always open to suggestions and Ideas and let the flame begin if anybody wants to, every modd isnt for every person some people will like some thing some people wont.

PS I didnt make those 2 kick panels, I just searched and found them. Yes they are kind of bulky and strange but thats jsut the idea of what the askers want. If I make them, they will be smooth and would flow with the interior.

There's not enough room to just put them in. You'd lose the dead pedal (which sucks for MT ppl) or end up moving all the wires around behind the kicks. It's not practical for most people and rocketgyrls I believe required cutting into the sheet metal behind the kicks. Q-Logic makes off the shelf kicks for lots of cars but it's not practical for our car.

you'd need to use very slim speakers. i would recommend an audio specialist make them.

Its not that easy tho. the quality and the build is just a fraction of the setup.
You need to have major experience in the audio world to make them work. its not just throw them in there and hook up wires. You have to have the angles right, and the distance correct. If you cant get a straight line of sound, you have to have experience in reflection. And then someone to tune it all for sound timing.

or do a three way setup, mid bass in the doors, and small mids and tweets in the kicks.

for now i'm just going to use the stock location for the woofer, and i'm going to put my tweeters in the kick panel. the woofer is already pretty low in the door and also pretty far up in the door. deadening and sealing off the doors will make the woofer sound really good in the stock location.

i would be interested to see you make a set though. maybe i'd someday use them in a three way setup.

another thing to add: woofers, especially large power hungry ones need airspace behind them to make any sort of midbass. so they would need to be pretty large.
