Love the second hood, goes with the car very well. looks natural on the car, where as the first one is more of a universal hood u see on everything from neons to integras.
Love the second hood, and if i had a box, i'd get it.
price?? make??

I think he said like 800.00 and he used a celica gt hood and a xB hood...
Cost involved: XB Hood from dealership $140.00 Used Celica GT Hood w/scoop $150.00 Paint and other supplies $150.00 and countless hours of work.
I would have to charge $800.00 a hood I think that would be a bit to much.

I have no doubt you couldn't make em fast enough (they would sell like crazy) if you can cut that price in half Im sure you would have several orders in the first day of production, you did a excellent job and put your mind to work, it shows...

Kudos to both but, I like the second one better, I think it would be a design I personally wouldn't get tired of living with, and it looks like the windshield washers can still be used, too!
I'm not too much of a CF fan, I'd rather have my hood color match the rest of the box after seeing others' rides.
It would be great to see the cost come down on the second one...

for $100-$150 more depending on the bodyshop...u can easily paint CF, its lightweight and it will match your car...
7lbs is where ours weighed in at...+ paint add about 5 more ounces

honestly id hate myself for buying either one cuz i love the other one too much lol. i'd have to buy both and just swap em whenever i'm in the mood for a different look. lol i love the scoops on the cf hood but i also like how number two looks like a stock option hood. love em both . thats a draw!

Is the second one a functioning scoop or just for looks?

it's functional. read the other thread LOWBOX started, he showed a few pictures of the fabrication.
although 'functional' in this instance is a mute point as the air will be blowing into an area that is completely without need of ram induction - but that's whith ANY hood replacement on the box, the bBist hood included. - this anemic little car does not NEED all the extra airflow
Personally, I'd take the lowbox hood -- body colored and steel. Non-steel hoods have a tendancy to blow opn at speed w/o hood pins (which look stupid on a 100hp car...) and unpainted hoods just don't work for me either - looks like a job halfway done.

I tend to agree with this observation but, I do think my little box loved the extra breathe of air with the Blitz shortram and then my precisionMuffler exhaust. Yet, even with the extra flow, it is still afterall an engine built of compromises. Not necessarily good or bad and still the one I'd pick over many, it is not the monster most dream of.
With that said, it is cool that it can look like more than it is with designer touched from aftermarket hood designs like lowbox and bbist. I'll take a lowBox hoodscoop please in BCP  !

eh... you're right too. any motor can benefit from SOME help -- hell... I've got Gabe's full exhaust (too), Injen intake etc etc - and the motor does feel (a little) better. I think I just think that whether a hood ram is functional or not (on an xB) is of very little consequence.
The bBist hood was my choice till lowbox dropped his bomb. bB's design doesn't have anything that sticks above the original hood contour (GOOD!) is obviously 'functional' and is just all around smooth - but I'd had preferred it fiberglass (maybe overlayed the factory steel bracing as to avoid hood pins) as I would've just painted the whole thing anyway (what a waste of carbon fiber!).
It's a hard choice actually.

... but I'd had preferred it fiberglass ...
The AudioFormz hood is fiberglass, and although a simple design, matches the look of the xB pretty well ... i think they're selling them for $400
