hey guys i had a 06 scion tc manual. i was interested in a intake.


some of my friends have fujita cai, aem, injen.

My friends who have aem love it because it doesn't requier any oil. and its a ez switch in nd out.

a friend of mine who has a injen cai. says cleaning it and installing is a little hassle. because its lower into your bumper.

i was really interested in a aem sri but i heard tc's have a problem with heatsoak..

any recommendations?

you will be pulling in hot air from the engine bay so you wont get as much power as you would from the cooler air of any true CAI

Hot air tends to give a lag in power.if you go with a SRI intake venting in exterior air into the engine bay will help with this.there is a lot of ways to get air in from outside if you try.......

this is also true. it will increase fuel economy either way.

tc's have a problem with heatsoak..

Any CAI/SRI with metal tubes will heat soak pretty bad. On a 93 degree day my intake air temperature has gone as high as 123 degrees with my Injen CAI at a long red light. Kind of ironic that it's called a "cold air" intake. :)

Only intake mod that doesn't heat soak is Dr. Isotope's GFI.

Mid_Life, is that the temp of the pipe? or the temp of the air?

Intake air temp (IAT). The pipe is even hotter as it is absorbing heat from the engine, primarily the exhaust manifold.

Once you start moving again the IAT will slowly drop towards ambient but this will take a few minutes.

That's why when they dyno CAI's they leave the hood open and a biga$$ fan blowing on the intake to negate heat soak.
