Default TOYOTA SCRATCHED MY 08 TC!!!

So, when i bought my car they talked me into paying 480 for a spoiler (that i knew i could do myself for 250 the most). So i figured - they do these all day, they wont mess up... I dont want to risk scratching my new car!

I droped of my car all day for a spoiler install, and when i picked it up there were scratches all over the back of my car along with dirty hand prints all over the car. Im **** about it i dont even let my gf get finger prints on it when she closes the door! I spoke to some guy he said hes sorry but he'll have to see what he can do about it. They may "touch it up"

I bought a new car so it wouldnt have little scratches and touched up paint. they ____ ME OFF!

Smithtown Toyota... dont let them touch your car!

That sucks bro, I know how you feel, I would be pretty ____ed too. Regardless their gonna have to bite the bullit on that one. I hate how you pay someone to work on your car and they dont treat it with any care. Just tell them that you paid the extra money for them to do it right an they didnt. And that you expected to get your car back in the same if not better condition than you gave it to them. Itll probably take a while for them to do anything about it but keep your guard up and bug them till they fix it. Also the other problem with dealers is that they have 18 yr old kids working on cars making 8-10 dollars an hour, and they expect people to pay an arm and a leg. thats why NEVER take your car to a dealer unless you have warranty crap!

ALWAYS have the service manager do a walk-around inspection of body/wheels before leaving your car. Tell them its a "no drive" and "no wash" car and that lessens the chances of abuse or argumentative damage.

Dealership employees aren't exactly the brightest bulbs.

As much as possible, I do all the work on my car myself. Even if it voids the warranty.

I would talk to the Manager there. That is not good business, and not what I experienced when I bought my tC there two months ago. Perhaps speaking with someone slightly higher up would be your best bet, otherwise you may want to look into legal action?

I got a better one for you. Kendall toyota on US1 miami. I bought the pedestool spoiler and they put it on. I did a walk through before {lucky} and they put a big dent in it. I fought with the manager and they called me back to fix it a week later. I went back and they did a great job fixing the dent but, the guy who took off my bumper used a flathead to remove it. He scratched and bent the rear bumper and they scratched my rims! So he then sent me to a bodyshop to fix my bumper and they said toyota did such a horrible job they would have to replace it. All in all the bodyshop did a great job painting the bumper but the left side sticks out of the car... I gave up!!!!!!!!!!!! Bye the way i bought my car 2 months ago and it has 2000 miles on it, i didn't even get to enjoy it before they f^ed it up... I am going to write a letter and see what they will do!!!!!

I always thought you get what you pay for - obviously not the deal with dealers...

so to top all this off - the service manager sent me a letter today .. the typical "customer satisfaction is our priority" .. please call with any concerns... they will be getting a call

I spoke to the service manager before i left, they were closed i went knockin on the door and saw some guy snooping around in there so i kept bangin on the door... the guy came out and i showed him the scratches and he said that theyre going to send it to a body shop to get it fixed

If i can see wheel marks / touchup paint ima be mad.
... and im staying with the car this time! ... from now on only I touch my car.

I brought my car in for the first complimentary oil change and they didn't do a few things.

I wanted them to write in the booklet thing and they didn't.

They also didn't reset the Engine Maintenance Light.

Both things aren't very major but its just like, come on.

Dealership opened my door into a wall, bent the edge over and put a crease in it. They fixed it the next day, no questions asked.

When I took my baby for her first comp, i got her back with a huge chip on the one of rims, right where the lugs are. Must've banged it with their powertools while rotating my wheels.

At least some of you guys have had quick replacements and fixes from Toyota. With my last Toyota, they dented the body near the gas cap pretty well during the 30,000 mile service, and they refused to do anything about it because I couldn't prove it was them. I had kept my car looking pristine up until that point, then they f*cked it up and even charged me money for the privilege. After that, I lost my enthusiasm for that car.

On a separate note, way back when I was buying my tC, a wrecked Tundra came into the dealership on a flatbed truck. It was seriously messed up, definitely totalled. From all the commotion and yelling that happened afterwards, I learned that one of the service techs had been test-driving it after performing a service or upgrade of some sort. It was supposed to be returned to the customer shortly. The owner was already waiting for it. That's got to suck. Consider yourself lucky, I suppose.

Wow.... that sucks - im never leaving my car again....

The service guys suck.. i had to show them how to use 4x4 on my trade in, and after teaching them how to put it in neutral to go to 4 lo / hi... they insisted that it was because of a bad vacume seal. A 19 year old kid showed 4 old men how to use 4x4... nice

I lost all respect for dealerships.

Never

Ever

EVER

Go to the stealership. Unless you've got something under your warranty, and you make sure you do a walk-around on your car every time. They will mess something up on your car, and they don't care.

Wow sounds like some pretty bad experiences at some of these dealerships

Well that's good that they are going to fix it-- I don't think the bill would actually be paid for by "toyota" though, at least not the actual maker of the car-- the dealerships are all independently owned businesses and if the dealer messed up during installation, then that's not necessarily the manufacturer's defect (in the part itself I mean), so the dealership should be the one paying that bill...

Same thing happened to me, came back with scratches alll over the driverside rear quarter panel, bumper, and gas cap. I was MAD! Week old car! It was there to install the trd springs that were supposed to be installed before I bought it but someone was slacking! I also had to come back a seperate time to replace the rear side window because it had a big scratch on it when I bought it! Which they also slacked on ordering! Basically all they did about the scratches was try to buff them out..but it didnt really help. I was sooooo fed up with them I didnt want them to touch my car anymore. And I seriously never want to go there again. This was the one in El Monte.
