gloss black with a red lip? I just bought a new set of stock wheels and I'm trying to get a good picture of what they'd look like. I'm going for the Volk time attack look. Thanks to anyone who has pics.

View Full Version : Anybody paint or powdercoat their stock wheels... ScionSean 10-14-2007, 08:27 AM gloss black with a red lip? Katoes 10-15-2007, 05:40 AM I was going to do that with my wheels but i had alot of people tell me that the paint would come off fast if i did it myself. But the gloss black with a red lip sure does sound nice. ScionSean 10-15-2007, 05:49 AM I'm definitely gonna go the powdercoat route since I can get it done for $100 for all four. Just wanna see what it looks like regardless. Paint shop anyone? :) Hat_Trick_Hokie 10-15-2007, 06:51 PM http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q124/hattrickritz/Auto_X_Verona_9_2007_2.jpg http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q124/hattrickritz/Auto_X_Verona_9_2007_3_small.jpg http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q124/hattrickritz/CIMG0646.jpg http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q124/hattrickritz/CIMG0642.jpg Powdercoated gold. i bought them like this, so I really can't tell you too much about color/who did it/etc. Joselo 11-08-2007, 12:20 AM to me they seem alittle bit gold/bronze lookin, Ive had mine painted for pictures here: http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=2971367#2971367 mine are Subaru gold And Ive had them well over a Year or more by now, and no chips, PS: dang you Hat_Trick_Hokie!!! Joselo 11-09-2007, 10:58 PM sand them down, paint them, and dont forget to tape off your tires do i need to put some type of special coating or something so it wont peel off or crack? ... by paint them I mean, primer them, then paint desired color, then if you want a glossy paint job clearcoat them, If you dont want a glossy finish dont clearcoat them=matte finish, flat colors. Primer them first dont forget that!!!! Obsoletepunk04 11-09-2007, 11:18 PM I've done them to wheels I bought of ebay. Some decent wheels with a nice lip. I got them blasted, primed them, sanded them with 320 grit, sealed them, then painted the spokes the color of my car (FC) just a shade darker, and then the lip a silver to make it look like polished aluminum. Then used clear over them. Then had some extra Scion center caps, and made them fit the wheels. Looks clean. I wish I had some pics to show you but I took them off for winter. Damn Wiscsonsin winter. |
