Can't be the Vitz. The xA and tC have those newer style door handles. I've heard that the Vitz/ Canadian Echo will be the cheap Toyota car.

Indiana is the official home of the S-10 pickup... About 60% of younger drivers here have an S-10, lowered with billet style wheels... There are plenty of hicks around driving trucks as well, but they drive jacked up dodges or rusted out 1982 fords

The Will Cypha looks like a PT Cruiser with smoother lines. I don't like it so much, but it may grow on me.

I don't think you quite understand the appeal of a truck to the youth market. It's there, they want it. The main problem is the gas mileage stigma, but some larger vehicles(SUVs/Trucks) are getting better mileage. If scion comes out with a truck, you know it'll get good mileage, and the kids will flock.

i don't think theyll make another hatch back. Scion corp. already has all three with "hatchback" the tC is aleready a 2 door hatch. and the xA and xB are hatchbacks/ wagons also. IMO the young groups (hate to say it) might look for suv's just because theyre big and you can throu spinners on the thing. i think a small compact truck like the old toyotas of the 1980's the tacoma is now midsice and pricy. and their is no small compact truck under 17 anymore. just my $0.02

well, i'd have to think that the car is already either in R&D, or they know which car they're bringing over. because, when scion first came out in california, they said a new model every year. so, if they're bringing something out for next year, it would have to be pretty far along in the process.

Mainly because in Canada, the 3 and 5 door Vitz's are sold as Echos (why we can't get them, I don't understand, becuase I personally really like the 3 door Vitz.) But with our northern neighbors having the Vitz as an Echo, I would figure Toyota wouldn't want to
"cross contaminate" so to say, their lines on the same continent.

I have actually heard that since the tacoma has been sized up a bit for 2005, the return on the classic toyota mini may come in the form of a scion.

The Vitz is already for sale in North America as the Echo, and canada gets the hatchback which they sell as an Echo Hatchback. I think an Echo hatchback would make a great entry-level (sub xA) Scion, but I think they would either have to redesign the car a little or cancel the Echo, otherwise you end up with a Scion and a Toyota sharing identical interiors and very similar exteriors.

my guess is they are going to put out something around the 18k mark...
but i did hear that they are going to put out something really fast...

The wish's rear 1/4 panel/window area resembles the vibe strongly... it might be the same platform... maybe they will rerelase the matrix with new body styling in the form of a scion with a 2zz motor.. =D

Folks at Toyota see a hole in their lineup between the Matrix and the RAV4. So they will bring a version of the Corolla Verso4, already on sale in Japan and Europe, here to plug that gap. Intended to compete with the Subaru Forester, the Verso4 will have all-wheel drive, and power from either the Corolla's 130-hp 1.8-liter 4-cylinder or the 161-hp 2.4-liter Four found in the RAV4. A hybrid model using the drivetrain from the Prius is another possibility.

If the Caldina is the dL, then let us have the 1AZFSE 2L Diesel-4 engine. BTW, no 2ZZFE for the Calidina. The diesel would be a nice mix of hp, torque, and fuel economy. The tC seems to share the same steering wheel, center console, dash, maybe seat material as the Caldina. Also the tC chassis code is ANT10, Caldina is AZT246 (diesel models only), Avensis is AZT250. A=A engine family. the turbo and Rolla engines have different chassis codes (different engine families).

i like that idea but at the current gas prices and where someone lives, if that motor can get near 45MPG then it could be a seller. but when i livved in NY, Diesel prices were about 7-10 cents cheaper than 87 but when i moved down to NC the diesel prices are wicked high. i saw 2.20. 5-6 cents more than 93 (sorry cali we still have 93 and 94)

i would think if that motor was emissions compliant with cali and the rest of the us.

The 1ZZFE is too slow. The TRD S/C for the 1ZZFE only works for the 2004 Model Rolla's and Matrix's. The 1AZFSE model gets about 35MPG while the 1ZZFE is a bit higher. Give us the D-4 180 Diesel engine (more torque, better gas mileage, less emissions) recently introduced at the Paris Auto Show!

The lower end 1AZFSE would put the bill for Scion since it's still under 20K. More than a tC starting price. Ofcourse the 3SGTE is out of our league. Unless Toyota surveyed a lot of really rich buyers who can afford it as well as the insurance.

The next scion is already priced near the tC, seeing how the response was so positive.
Scion has said they do not want to ever breach the $20k mark on any of their vehicles. That would chase away/limit their market.

the actuality of a dL is still speculative.
there would be spy shots and leaks by now... it's Auto Show time. :wink:

Actually its not a guess, I was told all the vehicles that are coming out in the next 17 months for the Toyota's and Scions. All the new redesigns, and whats getting changed and the NEXT SCION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The specs on the Mark-X (X-Body) show it's a RWD car with a 2.5 four or 3.0 six. Something tells me this is the replacement to the Altezza/IS300. Maybe Scion will get a variation, but at about $20k I don't see it happening (at least not with the six). It looks alot like what I'd expect the next gen Altezza/IS300 to look like. :?
