A full color change will run you between 5 - 9 K depending on where you go and how good the job you want. Mine was rated 6 - 8K because when I painted it I removed the doors, hood, and the hatch. I painted the door, hood, and hatch jams, behind the doors, hood, and the hatch, I painted the exterior, I didnt skuff it before I painted it. I sanded it down with 320 grit paper and then applied 2 coats of clear sealer to fill in the scratches. I then sprayed 4 layers of paint and 2 toned the wheel well areas. Gave it 2 thick clear coats, wetsanded it with 1000 buffed and polished. The better way to have it done is have it wet sanded iwth 1000 then 2000 after its buffed. Im going to do that. But everything I listed there is what you should be asking them to do. Also removing the windows to have it done the best way( I only removed the driver and passenger windows because I didn't want to call people over to put the others one back on the car)

Also ask them to take everything off (head lights, tail lights, door handles, antenna, trunk garnish, grills, bumpers, side skirts) Many places don't so make sure you ask them to. If you don't there will be some misty spots and some places wont be touched with paint.

Good news is, some places will do a perfect job for cheaper so shop around before you even think of sticking to one place. Also ask them if its cheaper if they take their time, If you leave the car there for twice the time it should take or longer to get it done they'll charge cheaper because they can do it when its not so busy.

some places are cheaper so shop around but u do get what you pay for (dont go maaco..lol) ..pay for the best job though. around here you can get it done good for about 2k-3k but thats when you remove all the seals and panels yourself.

i got a quote from a local shop to repaint my entire car (door jambs but not engine bay) for ~3000 but they told me to figure in another 1500 if i wanted the engine bay painted because they would pull the motor.

full repaint includes stripping the car. taking out all glass, painting, and putting back together. If you get the paint probably 4-7k and your car will be down at least 3-4 weeks probably. If they are custom mixing the paint probably looking at around 5-8k

uhh...... its all paint codes though. you give them a number, they put in a bunch of different colors and it goes through. there is nothing custom about them.

yeah they have codes and such but the machines are more complex than that, I work at a body shop in the summer you can't just pick toyota and type in the code. You have the code then you have to program the machine then there is a lot of tweaking to the color once the machine gives it out to get it right, unless you go straight to toyota to get it every machine will give out a lightly different color since different brands of piant use different sources of pigment and different hue variations.

Figure another 1000 if you want the doors hood and trunk taken off to paint the jams.
