i've never used pro-long or z-max, etc. in any of my previous cars... but i've always watched the way they performed when there was nothing else to watch on late night tv... just curious if its really worth the $20.

my last car ran full synthetic, i don't plan on going synthetic with this car. i'm getting close to my first (1000 mile) oil change... just wondering if i should throw in some 'treatment'.

if you do recommend it, which brand do you have most faith in. thanks!

They work about as well as everything else advertised on late night TV. At best, they'll do nothing, at worst they'll screw up your car.

It sounds like you're doing fine with what you are doing. Adding snake oil won't help a bit.

ZMax was proven to just be mineral oil dyed with food coloring. It is a complete scam. They got sued but somehow I still see that crap in stores.

The only "treatment" that I have ever had any luck with was slick 50.
I had a Civic I had hopped up and it ran Mobil 1 from day one and I had done a slick treatment after 7500 miles. However you have to be very carefull when using it. Slick 50 contains small particles that collect on the metal surfaces of the engine. Those particles that do not collect go somewhere and that somewhere is in your oil filter. Now this is not a one time shot in that all the particles are not stripped out of the carrier the first time they pass through the filter. They build up over time. You must change your filter within about 1500 to 3000 miles or you will get serious filter clog - decreasing oil pressure which is bad.

Would I do it again? Prolly not. Mobil 1 or Amsoil is about all I will put in mine when I do my first change and leave it at that. They provide superior lubrication and on a new car you really dont need much more.

have u guys heard of DURALUBE? I tried it on my 92 VOLVO 940 it works fine I believe it helped the car a lot coz' I've piled a lot of miles in it. I also didn't change my oil very often like what the mfr. suggest. I only do it 2 in a year I guess :D never had any problems with the engine though.
