iKONA 10-23-2007, 02:14 AM I just wanted to send my best wishes to everybody in southern California that is at risk or might be at risk because of all the fire. I hope everybody is safe and if any members of SL is at risk hopefully somebody is able to help out. I wish I could do something but being in chicago theres not much I can do but sit here with my thumb up my but. Good luck to everybody and don't worry, everything will work itself out.
Dakine 10-23-2007, 02:18 AM Watching the fire all day during class makes me wanna drive down there to help.

cwayne 10-23-2007, 03:00 AM A co-worker of my wife was just told by the fire dept to evacuate. She got all the irreplaceable stuff (pictures, documents... etc). Hopefully they'll still have a home when this whole thing ends. Let's
scion_jon 10-23-2007, 03:07 AM omg i started im ppl i knew making sure they are ok, i am worried
kungpaosamuraiii 10-23-2007, 03:11 AM Well I live a few miles off of one of the fires and there's not a damn thing I can do but sit and watch the fires edge closer. Thankfully the developments on the city boundaries were built recently and with fire in mind so they've been kept safe by design. My house is pretty far in the city but I've been concerned for my friends. It's not easy to wait for stuff to happen to myself but when it's almost imminently going to affect a friend, the feeling is nothing short of agony.
scion_jon 10-23-2007, 03:13 AM i saw on CNN that it just started from dry heat, that is realy bad, wish i could help
jurassic1 10-23-2007, 03:39 AM I just talked to my uncle. He and his family lives in Santa Clarita. He said the fire was just on the next street, a block away from his house...but added it was out now, the fire dept. had just moved on to the next area. With that I'm glad they're alright; but my heart goes out to those who have lost their homes.
My thanks to the brave FFs who are out there. I hope the fire ends soon. :(
scion_jon 10-23-2007, 03:41 AM i was watching CNN and it said something like 500 homes burned, and 100 business' also
that is sad
sdtcqueen 10-23-2007, 03:50 AM Its 60 degrees right here at my house if I drive 10 miles east its burning hot like a summer day in the desert
adg016 10-23-2007, 05:11 AM Here by the water there are no fires, but all the soot is blowing out this way. there is a layer of it on all the cars.
I just got my power restored after being in the dark for 8 hours. Still no fires on top of me yet, but the wind is causing chaos. I expect the fires to be much closer by tomorrow morning. I've been evacuated twice before, so I wouldn't be surprised if it happens again. Just a bad location I guess.
RnB180 10-23-2007, 06:42 AM right now the night air is pretty bad.
keenoh 10-23-2007, 06:43 AM we had to evacuate.. its the worst thing ever! the santa clarita valley is burning up! i wish everyone the best!
hyperwhitetc 10-23-2007, 06:44 AM i saw on CNN that it just started from dry heat, that is realy bad, wish i could help
the santiago canyon fires were arson. all three of them. I hope they catch the people who started it :gun:
we had to evacuate.. its the worst thing ever! the santa clarita valley is burning up! i wish everyone the best!
Did you see the new one at Sand Canyon which just started in the last hour? I was watching the homes burning down. Crazy stuff. I don't see how a new fire can start at nighttime in the middle of the city away from all the other fires - sounds like arson.
chubbykai 10-23-2007, 06:51 AM this is by far the worst fire season ever... had the same problem last year and 2 years ago. but DANG the santa ana winds are brutal reaching 90 mph gusts. my car swerves on the freeway cuz of these winds! hope everyone is alright down in irvine, san diego, and santa clarita.
hyperwhitetc 10-23-2007, 06:53 AM yeah its crazy to see all those homes gone up in flames, then burnt to the ground. I would be out there helping if i had the full proper training. right now im just a volunteer. and here we have some members, wont mention any names ( just read above), worrying about their car just being waxed. im just thankful im not in an area that needs to be evacuated, and that i still have a roof over my head.
rob1n 10-23-2007, 06:55 AM i live in foothill ranch =( it sucks here
GORILLA 10-23-2007, 09:35 AM thanks man......
jay_jay_n 10-23-2007, 11:02 AM yeah seriously its pretty bad, but i'm a lucky one for living in northridge, i'm just at the epicenter of the quake, but its windy as hell here, my whole back yard is trashed and my car's car cover flew off so my car is a mess.
i've had friends get evacuated and the freeways to there homes closed down and not be able to get home. this really came out of no where. I just hope everything gets better and not worse
pixiedixie862 10-23-2007, 03:28 PM Yeah, it sucks to see all these fires around here. The wind is killing me though... i hate it. I hope everyone is okay and is safe.
RnB180 10-23-2007, 04:38 PM the air sucks right now, woke up this morning with ashes all over my car.
soot and ashes floating all around southern cali.
PakanaHerruus 10-23-2007, 04:58 PM i dont know if the fire will or has effected us.. i heard the fire in Valencia is spreading towards here.. we got all the smoke.. I just got a headache for standing outside for 5 minutes.. alot of trees are falling here.. i have re-latives and a vacation home up at Lake Arrowhead.. i havent heard any news whether those are alright. but im sure they have evacuated..
on another disturbing not i found this article.. (Bush cut funds a while back for Fire Prevention, help fund his war)

JOEinSD 10-23-2007, 06:53 PM What's sad was watching Larry Himmel, a local newscaster, broadcast live in front of his burning house. It was totally dsestroyed down to the ground. youtube Larry Himmel and you'll see it.. He stayed pretty calm though..
DodgerGirl 10-23-2007, 06:56 PM
ChelsDS 10-23-2007, 06:58 PM I have family in Escondido and last I heard they were forced to evacuate and they're living in a hotel now :( I also live in Lake Forest, 10mins from Foothill Ranch, and it's surreal to know that fire is this close to "home". Haven't heard of any homes being lost in my area so thats good, but I feel so bad for those who have in the other fires.
