Default Burning Smell on the Rear Wheels of my new xB!?!

I have a manual transmission Black xB and every time I'm finish driving it i get out of the car (or sometimes when I'm driving with the windows down)
I smell a burning smell from the rear. It gets stronger when i go towards the rear wheels. It smells like I braked really hard (kinda like go down a mountain side) but I wasn't really.

Could it be the brake or the clutch cuz I'm still learning how to drive the manual.

Either the hand brake was up just alittle, or you are toasting the hell out of your clutch

It probably comming from your muffler- especially if it gets wet from driving...

It's from parts wearing in and is probably the catalytic converter burning in. It's not a problem, they all do this.

Could be a number of things. Like some one else posted, how many miles are on the car? If its new, then its the car breaking in. Could be the Cat .. could be part of the exhaust has over spray on it ( mine did, stunk for about a week ) .... could be that your Ebrake is engaged ( like Munch said ... HEY MUNCH, LONG TIME, NO CHAT! ). If your ride is new, dont sweat it, its just breaking in. If not, then take it to a dealer before you get into trouble with something like no rear breaks.

It's just breaking in... I wouldn't trip... but if it doesn't go away or gets stronger, then I would have the dealer check it out. Also, if you are doing spirited driving in it, it could be the brakes heating up and getting smelly!

wait a week. if it still smells take it in. if your pretty sure theres a drag on your rear brakes take it in. check by parking on a flat surface and try to push it with the e brake off. it should be pretty darn easy.

How bout stop on an incline, and pull up on your ebrake- see if that holds it...Scion=thin metal= dents from pushing it!

it's not whether it hold or not but if it's dragging . you can push it just push on the c pillars not the rear hatch. its so light youd have to ram it to get it moving on a flat surface

what is burning ur clutch ? i like to remove my foot from the clutch pretty fast when i go from 1-2 and 2-3 and if i remove it quickly it makes a thud sounds (or feels like it and the whole car jerks softly) and also i notice when i'm in 2-3 gear the front starts to make a rattling noise ?? what's that all about ? I HIT THE ODOMTER A FEW TIMES AND IT GOES AWAY FOR A WHILE ?!?!?!?

lol optimistic cure. lol thats cuz yer clampin it and outtin too much power too quick and it thuds normal. if you raise the rpm there will be less thud . or just release the clutch more smoothly

what about when you're taking off from a stop? if you let the clutch go too slow it can start burning..

about the rattling noise, i found that if the AC vents are angled too much away from center, they rattle...

Well, some times when I take my GF to school in the morning I drive kinda slowly so i rev real high before letting go the clutch (is that called burning the clutch?)
but when I'm awake and everything I let the clutch go slowly and gas it just right still learning how to drive stick i guess !!!

and my girlfriend wants to learn off my xB!! No way!!!
I'll try adjusting the A/C went again thanks for the hint!

xB's a great car to learn on.

My friend tried to teach me on his RX8

Anyway if you kind of hold the clutch near the engagement point and rev it high
so that it still kind of slips and not all of the power goes to your wheel it will burn.
