debadged everything first, then just a chrome one about 1/2 inch by 4 inches that says toyota on the left, just abouve the crease in the rear gate and on the right a VVT-i badge. popped all the scion logos off the hubcaps, got a bB logo for the front. trying to figure a solution for the steering wheel. I really don't like the scion logo . the type is cool, but that logo is UGLY

i've actually had no negative comments - unless, "is that the honda element?" is one.

shame on me, but the first time i saw one, i said, "that is the ugliest thing i've ever seen." it was polar white, pure stock and sitting still. then i saw a hot lava on the freeway and thought - "was that the same thing as that white box?" "cause that was tasty" so i checked the web for new cars and there it was. the price and mileage sent over the top. best move i ever made.

last saturday i went to SCO Nights here in phx. and saw a polar white, sitting still on sick 19's and TEIN springs w/ cleared corners. i was jealous.

I had made the decal myself. A few days later I had found a blank aluminum lunch pale at a local hobby shop, it did have a thermos that mached it so I made a smaller decal to put on the lunch pale and thermos. The guys at work think im nuts and wonder why I would put so much time in my "BOX". I say to them well it's a box. Me and my friends when we were 5 and 6 years old used to take those huge card board boxes that frezers came in and pretend we were in car races. I guess thats why I spend so much time working on my "BOX". Brings back good old fashion memories.
They look at me for about 30 seconds with a blank face, shake there head like im some sort of nut job and walk away. The best part is when i give one of the guys a ride that have never been in and they say , "wow this would be a great family car, theres so much room" I then look at them with a blank face for about 30 seconds and shake my head like there the nut job.

I've gotten that a few times now since the tC came out, actually.

It amazes me that some people are just beginning to notice Scion now because of the plain vanillla tC and they think it's so hot. Honestly, I'm not sure that there are any other 2 cars that look more similar than the Astro Van and the xB.

I always get stares from the "hood rats" with their ricey looking civics. I mean, go to your local elementary school and check out how many civic coupes are in the parking lot. its a TEACHER CAR!!! I give honda a TINY BIT of credit for hte new ones, but the civic (and Honda in general) are BORING!!! AND BLAND!!!

And as far as the Astro thing, the comparison to looks is there. HOWEVER, having worked at a Chevy dealership at one time, the Astro is the biggest peice of CRAP GM ever piled onto four wheels. I wouldnt walk across the street to ____ on one.

At that point you ask her "Didn't the Aztek get pulled from production and redesigned all with the first year? What was that for, OH YEAH they are ugly!"

Well I debadged my xB and I get far less interest in it now. I redded out tyhe tails and the car blends in a bit better. I'm not tryin to hide but just do what I like. I do get annoyed that people call them Skyons and Skeeons! Even the dealer can't get it right. Idoits.

Like most xB drivers here, I've debadged my BSP and replaced them with bB badges. It's funny to watch people trying to figure out what it is, much less what bB means! I finally show them the Toyota branding on the windows and they seem to be relieved. It's funny how people get so brain-washed into thinking what "normal" is. No one realizes that most new car designs are usually 5-6 years in the making and what they see on the road is actually something designed by someone that isn't even working for the auto manufacturer any more.

Here's my story:

The warehouse guys at my work had left about 20 boxes around my parked xB marked for UPS pick-up. I had to laugh because they spent so much company time getting this done that I docked their pay accordingly!!!! This all coming from guys that drive some of the worst crap out there. One drives a Maxima that spends more time in the shop than on the road. The other dirves a 4-Runner 4X4 that has never seen anything but pavement and gets 15 MPG. Dumb-asses.

I'm so glad I created this thread! Its taken on a life of its own! :-)

I have owned my Xb for all of 36 hours. Last night this jackass in a big ford (complete with West Coast Choppers sticker in the back window) Pulls up next to me and says "why did you buy that thing" I replied "for the room" he says "You can fit ____ in that thing, its so small" I nicely replied "You girlfriend had enough room last night". This asshat follows me home probably hoping to kick my ___. I whip the B into the driveway and open the garage. He pulls up in front of my house and sees my 2 harleys, my 53 ford custom and my 26 roadster in the garage and my lifted F250 in the driveway and quickly leaves.
This morning the guys that work the warehouse laughed at it when I pulled in. As I walked through to my OFFICE one of them made an underbreath comment. I said to all of them, "I am secure enough with my manhood that I dont need to be tough and ride the bus everyday like you all do"
So the real question is, Which one should I fire tommorrow?

My 6'6" buddy at work said "it looks like a little hearst", and then proceeded to almost 'die' laughing.

i have got so many remarks it is hard to pick. the one that stands out is that the car is so ulgy it is cute. i am also big (6'6 350) and people wonder how i drive it. i do not here most remarks driving because of my system but because of the the people i work with call it a boombox on wheeles.

I had an elderly couple stop and look at my Xb as I exited the 7-11. They asked how to say SCION and who made it. I stated that my name was Johnny Scion and this was the first prototype of a new car that I had designed. They looked puzzled and I asked their comments about the design .... and they actually started telling me.....

I just joined the forum and already love this site and the box. I've not got any insults yet, but I used to hate boxes. I can't say I ever gave any insults, never would anyway. As far as receiving them, I really like the last post. I might say something to that effect. But I don't expect to receive insults when they look inside.

This is the funniest thread I've ever seen.
Now that I think about it, I got one insult from some lady. She walked by when me and my sister were sitting parked. She looked inside at us and just glared (really dirty look as my sister says). She looked away, took a double take while glaring still, and walked off. I just laughed.
I can't wait to get comments on me fitting inside, being 6'5". I often get to drive an MR2 Spyder which is VERY close to being too small, but weight almost exactly the same as the xB with only 2 seats (it goes considerably faster though).

Oh, just a note. Not all rednecks dislike xBs, for I am one. And as far as watching the tv or reading, our Scion dealership is the trailer that used to be the office for used Toyota dealership. No sign, no advertising. Remember that Scion hates rednecks, as we couldn't even buy one until August of '04. No Hot Lava xBs for us. So yes, we drive old cars and trucks, but not always by choice.

The only comments/funny looks seem to come from lifted full size truck guy. Wife and I were going up north last weekend and lifted truck guy gave a little laugh and finger point over to us as he downshifted to go up the hill(we were doing just fine in 5th)...later started to snow and traffic slowed down to a snails pace/stopped completely. We passed him a little while later as his tires were spinning(along with many other 2wd trucks/rear-wheel drive sedans). I made sure he saw us go by. :loser:

On some other car forum where they were discussing/bagging on the Scions, someone said "I hear they save a lot on freight because they can stack them..." I thought that was pretty good, might even explain the price structure:

The xA's cost the least cuz they just stuff one inside each xB before they load the boat. The xB's aren't too pricey cuz they can save space stacking them (including an xA inside). The tCs are the most expensive because it's like trying to stack footballs or something. they probably just load one layer on a boat and ship it out...

Good luck on the xB. Everyone's comments will go away quickly (if they listen) when you show them the inside and tell them you get twice the MPG than their SUV.

when i showed my friend the xB for the first time, he got to the front of the car and what it seems to me that he was turning something. so when he open the door and talk to me, he said "i was turning a knob to see did you turned darker..."

during that day, me, my friend, and his mother was in the kitchen and my friend's little brother was in another room playing games. so when my friend push the panic button, the horn goes off. my friend's mom yelled "what was that?" then my friend's little brother (who was still playing his games in another room) yelled "the wind must have blown over the car!"

Yes, I love it when they say that girls dont like them, I had one guy tell me it was nasty just as a group of girls came out of the mall and started fawning all over it. He seemed to get really ____ed off, and said to the girls something like 'look at my truck, the tires are bigger than his whole car.' One of the girls just looked at him and raised her eyebrow. And just as he was walking away I went up to him and said, "I dont care if the girls dont like it, the guys dig it." He went all pasty, It was like he thought I was going to butt r@pe him or something. HAHAHAHAHaaaaa... oh man it was great. :rofl:

i was parked on worth ave in west palm beach fla, me my wife and son were walking up to our xb when 4 upity snooty milllionaire type people were stareing at our xb, the leader of the group looks at me and says " this is an amazing looking little car you have, how roomy is it,?" i said oh it has plenty of room, he says who makes this cart, i replied scion,/toyota, he turned his nose that fast and all four of them scattered and all directions........i freaking loved it, i laughed all the way home to orlando....lol

I live in redneck USA, I have gotten "it looks like a freezer with wheels on it" "wheres the key to wind it up? Herman Munster sold his car huh? "your car is ugly" my reply was yeah well i'm ridin your walkin. "its a shoe box with wheels" but the one i love is the one a little kid gave it "a lego mobile"

Last weekend my wife and I were at my brother-in-law and sister-in-law's house and we were all inside waiting for my brother-in-law to come home from his rabbit hunting excursion, when he walked in the door and asked "who left the box out in the driveway." Of course we all laughed out loud when we finally figured out what 'BOX' he was talking about. It was their first time to see the xB so it was pretty quick and witty.

My favorite so far was from my wife.....I was deciding on color for my soon to be xB. I was thinking white...maybe black. Had too many black cars lately and thought the white would say clean better.

She said: "don't get white....it will look like somebody knocked over a refrigerator."

soooo, I'm now the proud owner of a new camo xB!!!

thats awesome, makes me want to get a camo xb, maybe sometime in the future, it'll be able to play with my tC

Took a road trip down south this summer. Got all kinds of crazy looks on the highway from state to state. Explained the damn thing about 6,458,112 times, by the time I got to North Carolina someone came up to me with the usual question.....

I dont see how it does.I had a '97 Astro for quite a while-if you left in the dryer too long and shrunk the thirsty POS to about 1/3 its original size and slapped euros on it they would look exactly alike-except no xbs come in fugly a$$ metallic forest green!

I haven't had mine long enough to get many negative comments, but when I showed my wife the 2.0, she did say that it looked like the 'short bus', and that I would probably want one to bring back memories...

I chuckled.

I decided on black because when its clean, its so damn cool.
