Wussup everyone. I just got bit by the Scion cupid! Im looking into purchasing an Xb for family and Dj use. Hopefully by early next yearI will purchase one. But before i can do anything i will need to sell my Acura first. I havent gone down to the dealer yet. But I wanted to know if the Xb has good cargo space so i can haul my dj equipment. What i usually haul is 2 full range cabinets, 4space amp rack, 2 turntables, 2cdj's which are in sperate flight cases & couple of crates of records and cd's. And also how strong are the motors being 1.5? I always see at least 2 of em on my commute to work and and these boxes be mashin down the freeway! How well do they take the hills? I will be going through lots of hills in the streets of San Francisco. Thanks in advance.

Hey
I think the xB has a lot of space! I can fit 4 adults and a car seat in it and people can get around the car seat with no problem. I also fit two regular sized adults and three very large BBW women in the car (ok, the back seat was a little tight with two BBW and one health gentleman, and it rode very low).

With the back seats down it has like 42 csf of room. For me that means two dog crates and lots of dog show stuff. With back seat 1/2 down, that means two adults, one car seat with a five year old in it, two dogs (no crates) and weekend get away stuff.

I hope that helps.

They have a huge amount of cargo space considering their footprint. Also, since it has a huge hatch and practically square cargo area you can fit more larger items than you could in a normal hatchback where the sides slope in and the back slopes down. They take hills just fine. You won't be able to beat a Mustang in a drag race, but I've never had trouble going up any hill, even with 3 passengers. 1st gear is really low so you'll always be able to get moving. I take the highways at 80mph most of the time and still have plenty of throttle left.

One downside is the interior is made of really cheap materials and the plastic scratches up REAL easy. So, don't expect you will be able to keep it pristine after a few months of loading and unloading gear.

Whether your exact equipment fits I can't say.. you could always measure it and head down to SF Scion to look at the one in their showroom. If it's tight, you could gain a little room by removing the rear seats and spare tire (4 bolts and a screw-down holder) instead of just folding them down and by removing the passenger seat.

if you put seats down you should be able to fit everything with mybe a few things up front. for the hills, i think the xb should be able to handle it, it only has 108 hp but still has a little kick to it.

^^true and he still had a ton of room left

please remember the xB was made with the DJ in mind....

it has TONS of room, more so than most vehicles and if you put the back seats down it just seems huge...

Check this thread here, my car has a 27" tv in the back plus cases of beer and water and other stuff. Bill's pic has a 40" TV in the back.

If you fit half the stuff in your acura, you shouldn't have a problem fitting it in the xB. I drive a lot on the Bay Area freeways, and I don't drive slow. The xB is very quick and responsive, and I have the much dreaded automatic...

Yeah, I think with the backseats down there will be enough space.
That's a tight DJ "booth" setup in that pic, but that has nothing on the 5axis xB.

Head down to the Scion dealer and measure it out. I’m a musician and I can put my stuff in the back for most gigs. But I tell you it fills up quick once you throw a Mesa 4x12 cab in the back. Going to depend on the size of you house mains.

I had the sub wired up so I can do a quick removal of the box when I need to haul a lot of the stuff.

with the seats down, my coffin and 2 15" monitors fit in the back of mine.
rekkids stay up front buckled in :)
-- I think because you have seperate flight cases, you might be in better shape.--

My buddy has to take the amp rack .

those little black tabs on the back of my rear seats are so chewed up now.

as for HP. you should be fine. Some upgrades (intake / exhaust) will help the HP out even more.

i use my xb to haul stuff for gigs as well. I usually haul 2 technics, 2 cdjs, mixer, amp, and lights. None of this stuff is stack since i haven't purchased flight cases yet. If you can stack them you can probably fit all of your gear in the car. Depending on how big your cabinet is.

It's definately got the space. Much bigger than it looks on the outside. It doesn't have the power. Highway driving in Atlanta is a pretty rough gig. Don't buy the dealers speil on how much power that cold air intake is going to add for $300. It can physically go up a hill, don't get me wrong- it is not unable to do it. You just have to shift to a lower gear, and more than likely it ain't gonna do it like the other vehicles you have driven. (unless you drive an old VW bus with 60 hp) Forget about passing, it ain't happening. Go out and test drive one, and just make sure it will be liveable for you. Keep in mind the addition of a couple hundred pounds of gear will make on the performance. Of course if a couple hundred pound salesman is riding with you, it should be pretty similar.

This is the part where I get flamed now.
