View Full Version : New rims on my Xa also...
kdanie 01-02-2004, 06:17 PM I installed new 17x7 RSL "Ricochett" wheels (6 spoke/grey center/polished lip) with 215/40 tires on my Xa last Tuesday. No pics yet.... They weigh more than the stock steel wheels by about 6 lb each, not real happy about that but better than I expected. I have the Eibach springs sitting on the shelf already but after watching several WRC races on Speed yesterday, I may just leave it high and go for the rally look.... Maybe not-nobody around here would understand it anyway!!!

kdanie 01-02-2004, 11:29 PM Patience little grasshopper...
My digital camera died so I have to wait for hardcopy to be developed.
I'll take some pics when the springs are installed, just waiting for an alignment appt. at a shop that will align it to my specs. I like about 1.5 deg neg camber, no excessive wear and more pricise turn in and feel (at least to me). Most shops will only do alignments to factory specs because they are afraid they will get sued when the tires wear or something happens. I take responsibility for my own choices unlike many others in the modern world.

its_ikon 01-06-2004, 03:12 AM anything yet?
kdanie 01-09-2004, 08:01 PM I installed my Eibach springs last night, took about 1.5hrs including a dinner break. They lowered it about 1.5", that's fine with me, any lower and I would start to scrape things in this town and the pot holes are HELL!!
It does actually ride better with the new springs than with the stock springs! I had it aligned this morning: 1 deg neg. camber and 1/16th in. toe in, it drive sweet with nice turn in entering the corners.
I was disapointed to see there is very little (intended to be none) adjustment for camber. If I had more time to work on it I would have sloted the strut to allow more adjustment.
I removed a caliper to install my new Porterfield R4S brake pads and found they shipped the wrong pads, bummer, I was really looking fwd to better braking.
I'll shoot some pics this weekend so you can see the results.

Munch 01-24-2004, 10:59 PM Black on black..........Looks pretty good with the polished lip.
jackmott 01-24-2004, 11:04 PM You can get SSR Competitions from tirerack that look a LOT like that, and they are EXTREMELY light weight..
very expensive and not so durable on bad potholes though.
kdanie 01-24-2004, 11:12 PM I love the SSR and Kosei wheels, rotating mass is the enemy! These tires/wheels weigh about 5.5lb more each than the stock wheel/tire combo so it's not too bad.
Someday, when I get out of "the PotHole Capital Of The World" I'll spend the bucks and get some light weight wheels and tires.
I forgot to mention that I have only about $700 into the wheels/tires/lugs.
ken
2fixA 01-25-2004, 03:13 PM sounds like you got a nice package for the wheels, tires and lugs... cost me a bit more than that (and a bit more than I expected for the tires, lugs, lock etceteras) but I'm happy with the performance. I was told by a trusted source that going beyond my 16" 5Zigen FN01R-C at 15.5 pounds is really incremental, especially considering the cost difference (nearly double)
either way, I like the color combo of silver lip and black spokes. Are the Petaluma pot holes that bad?
