Default Amp, what size and where did you mount it?

Physical dimensions of amp and where you mounted it.
What fits under the passenger seat?
Any other good locations?

Kenwood KAC-716: 11-7/16" x 2-1/16" x 6-11/16"

I'm installing under the passenger seat. There is extra room but off-hand I couldn't say how much. I'll get a better look tommorrow when I finish my install. I considered the tray under the rear seat but the amp was too visible. I also considered the foam tray in back but there wasn't enough air space around it.

Here's Mine, uberspeed...
I put mine under the passenger seat AFTER I plugged up the heater vent blowing under there & duct taped it off.
This is a shot outside looking in from the pass. side.

Now here's a shot from the back seat with the front seat pushed ALL THE WAY to the front..

Now a shot same place with the front seat back where it belongs for comfortable riding position for the passenger.

& Finally.. back to the outside looking in where I cut a small rectangular peice of sub box carpet about 5 inches by 12 inches just to lay in front of the side of the amp to stealth it in, just in case somene got on their hands & knees & looked under the seat.

Hope this helps you to make a decision!...

I put 2 strips of velcro along the length of the 2 long sides. The foward edge sits up on the ledge, while the rear edge sits just inside the rear shallower edge of the floor.
For the vent, I stuffed a rag into the channel, then duct taped over the opening,, just stuck lenghts of tape right over it & the carpet. Seems to stick good. I am running my heat most of the time now, when I get out of the car, I go around & feel the amp... It's not hot at all!!!! All is good...
good luck with yours....

Just staying under 21x12x3 has been difficult. 17x12x3 has me down to 2 amps. Dunno about something that small, it takes space to make power really. are you just looking for a 4 channel? I'm looking for a 5 or 6 channel so perhaps with a 4 channel you can get that small. I'll look around for some and post back up.

Mike, give us a few more details to work with. Channels? RMS needed? Price range?

What speakers are you thinking of going with? They should list the RMS watts and if you're doing two sets (some folks don't like rear fill, I do) then consider a sub if any.

My setup is starting to shape up as such:

Pioneer AVIC D3
Front & Rear: eD 6000s v.2 (these handle 65W RMS each)
Sub: eD 13VSi with 13Kv.2 D2 (handles 500W RMS)
Amp: 5 or 6 channel deciding now on either
-Eclipse XA5000 4x50RMS+1x300RMS@4OHM
-Phoenix Gold XS6600 4x50+1x300(bridged)@4OHM

I know I'm not supplying all the power the components want, but good enough I say, trade-offs are made for comfort, family and no loss of trunk space, other than the loss of my spare tire.

Hope this helps.

I was going to suggest the Rockford Fosgate "25 To Life" amplifier to uberspeed, but it seems a tad on the large side...

You could mount the amplifiers like jimmbomb did, but make a rack so you can have one on the bottom and one above it about an inch or so.

well this is my idea:

scion premium HU
stock front & rear speakers (upgrade after the amp,sub install)
the ED single 13" enclosure with the ED 13Kv.2 Subwoofer

what are suggestions for amps in that size?

thanks for all your help!!
-mike

::edit::
jimmbomb: i didnt realize that you had the 1000W! i mis-read the names and i thought you had the kenwood amp. what amp is yours? price? i am liking that more and more!

Oooooh trust me I looked into that bad boy. The Power 1000 right? God they make gobs of power, always under rated, fan cooled, stable at 1 OHM. I weep. Too large though and at around $560 or so too rich for my blood, sadly.

Now I am liking that idea a bunch!!! I never thought of that, But now that you brought your great idea out in the open....if I ever want to amp up the Infinities (front door speaks)). get another smaller amp for that & put it down first..then rack directly OVER the top of it with a small wire rack.. like a bakers cooling rack, then place my big sub amp on the rack!!! I think it will fit, cause there is still plenty of room under that seat top -2- bottom!!!...
xseveredveganx, YOU are a freeegin 'U-Genius"!!!!. jh

jimmbomb, you already knew this...

uberspeed, I was referring to the 25 to life amp. It's a 5 channel, may be what you're talking about. All I know, it makes a metric a$$ load of power for all your speakers. http://cgi.ebay.com/ROCKFORD-FOSGATE...QQcmdZViewItem

I hate using ebay for examples, but they're hard to come by.

And if anyone wants nice inexpensive amps, check out www.sundownaudio.com. They have a great warranty and their customer service is top notch. Not to mention, a bunch of power.
