rsw1124 11-03-2007, 10:21 PM Me Like em Dual exhaust!!!!gotta wanna needa have a dual exhaust!!
TheSampler 11-03-2007, 11:15 PM do they sound like coffee cans?
speedelement 11-03-2007, 11:29 PM No, the sound is a mellow deep tone. In the pictures the stock resonator was replaced but it was way too loud for comfort, especially for a xB.
The final product will bolt up to the stock resonator at the midpipe.
matt311 11-04-2007, 01:13 AM price range?
NVMyTc 11-04-2007, 01:48 AM Hey its JT
You guys are going to make a killing on these things :)
cant wait to see the production model
tCTaco 11-05-2007, 03:21 PM If this clears the 5Ax kit...I will be looking into this....
What about just the axel back???
miketf1 11-05-2007, 06:41 PM i would want an axle back too. any pics/description on how the left muffler hangs? custom hanger, etc etc???
i would love this more if the mufflers were not touching the body! from the pics it looks too close for comfort for me!
tCTaco 11-05-2007, 06:57 PM Thats what i noticed too....I have the 5AX kit and that will deff rub
whitebreadbox 11-05-2007, 10:02 PM how much and who do i send my mailing address to? i want that now!!!!
speedelement 11-05-2007, 11:59 PM The muffler mounts can be shimmed with washers if it needs to be lower. The mufflers have bushing mounts so it will not hit/swing into the bumper unless the muffler hits something to force it up.
No price estimate yet, will update once we know of course :)
speedelement 11-06-2007, 12:15 AM Oops, almost missed your questions.
i would want an axle back too.
What about just the axel back???
The piping in the first picture was modified again to bolt to the back of the stock resonator because it was too loud.
The system is practically an axleback, I guess you could call it a resonator-back.
any pics/description on how the left muffler hangs? custom hanger, etc etc???
The tow hook needs to be removed to fit the muffler. The mufflers mount using one tow hook bolt for each side.
100% bolt-on installation, even with dual exhaust :D
i would love this more if the mufflers were not touching the body! from the pics it looks too close for comfort for me!
The mufflers definitely aren't touching the body or the bumper where it folds under.
The tips are spaced so the exhaust gas won't rise right into the back of the bumper.
Like in the last post, you can shim the mounts with washers if they are too close to your liking :)
coryjames 11-06-2007, 04:25 AM how soon
speedelement 11-06-2007, 09:26 AM We're hoping to get it in before Christmas
coryjames 11-06-2007, 12:38 PM i hope so to cause i want some exhaust and i hope soon or im a get the trd but look at that is sexy and just beautiful not over done love the small cans
tCTaco 11-06-2007, 03:18 PM Any way to get a sound clip of what you got now?
speedelement 11-08-2007, 10:28 PM We do have a soundclip of it in the garage which has a lot of echo. I will try to have it up on youtube in a day or so.
1vicissitude 11-09-2007, 05:50 AM I second that, sound clip woould be great. Any idea on the price range for it?
speedelement 11-11-2007, 01:32 AM Here's a crappy soundclip, we will have a better one with production
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Exk8Ptm7VXo
More on the quiet side but the exhaust will be comfortable inside the car.
Price of course will be very competitive, we will have pricing closer to release. Thanks
matt311 11-11-2007, 02:42 AM im sure a lot of people will like that... its not real loud and "Tin can" sounding... im sure it will do well!
anything off the dyno? im guessing a few more horse power like other exhausts? 5-6 hp?
coryjames 11-11-2007, 04:26 AM thats a good sound i like it more looks less sound the borla sounds like poop so i got the trd but im sure i will get board with it and get this cause look at it its hot
miketf1 11-11-2007, 04:54 AM sounds pretty good! at idle i think it just sounds like it rattles...
but it looks, sounds better than the trd!
eight08customs 11-11-2007, 06:05 AM hows this fit with the Five axis kit.. looks like it wont work with the five axis kit
killerxromances 11-11-2007, 06:18 AM ewww
the xb2 looks horrible with dual exhaust, imo.
ewww
the xb2 looks horrible with dual exhaust, imo.
+1 :eyebrow:
speedelement 11-16-2007, 05:51 AM the symmetrical bumper cutout seemed like a great fit for dual exhaust. but of course everyone has their own tastes
ScioXBox 11-18-2007, 12:29 AM Wow! I like it.. the question is...would it fit with the FiveAxis kit? :nails:
whitebreadbox 11-18-2007, 07:02 PM any new word on price? when it will be released? i need this BAD!!!
SLO-BOX 11-19-2007, 04:36 AM Not to change the subject totally...BUT, has anyone seen a center bumper exit dual tip/exhaust on the 2nd gen yet? I saw one about 2 months ago in Lancaster, CA. on a white xB2. I didn't have a chance to catch up with the owner to find out what it was...
I personally no likey the dual exhaust with the single back up light. I might have to warm up to that look.
DREWxB08 11-21-2007, 06:13 AM any new word on price? when it will be released?
speedelement 11-22-2007, 06:20 PM nothing yet, we will update right away once we know!!
xbbox 11-24-2007, 02:39 PM Man I want this, needs to be a tad bit louder though! :)
NVMyTc 11-25-2007, 02:54 AM Man I want this, needs to be a tad bit louder though! :)
Well its still just a prototype, the Production one might just sound a bit different
And if you really want it louder, remove the cat and get a straight through pipe custom made :)
xbbox 11-25-2007, 03:38 AM Yeah, that or add a header, lol!
speedelement 11-26-2007, 12:03 AM Yes if you wanted it really loud you could just replace the resonator section (the one connected after the s-pipe) with either a straight pipe or resonator. Like I said, we tried it with a resonatorand it was extremely loud, past the point where the majority of people would find it bearable.
whitebreadbox 12-02-2007, 03:34 PM any new word on this? please!!!
coryjames 12-02-2007, 04:20 PM you do know there is a cat in the midpipe resonator right? so by epa standards lol just kidding
speedelement 12-16-2007, 06:37 PM looks like ETA about 2-3 weeks more.
we'll keep everyone updated in this thread. thanks!!
xbbox 12-23-2007, 08:09 AM Woo wooo!!!!
Hurry up, lol!
speedelement 12-28-2007, 01:46 AM coming, shouldn't be much longer now.... :)
Will this exhaust have that performance sound and not too loud where everyone is pointing and laughing haha
coryjames 12-29-2007, 07:52 PM there is a video clip of it atxb
i know and ive listened to it. Ill just wait for the production model and hear it then
coryjames 12-29-2007, 09:37 PM yeah i wish i would have done it not the trd the trd was a waste of money you get no sound so i had to fix that and we will have to see but this is one sexy exhaust
Im going to do this or the borla system. i havent decided yet. but i love the look of this one rather than the borla. And ive heard the borla and i want something with a deeper tone
xbbox 12-31-2007, 12:28 AM coming, shouldn't be much longer now.... :)

speedelement 02-08-2008, 12:27 AM we are too.... its in the final stages.

cincinfocal 02-18-2008, 06:03 PM anyway one could just buy the mid pipe from this? what is its diam anyway? the part that replaces the stock resonator/cat section...

Tsudo told us two weeks to their door.
xbbox 02-28-2008, 08:29 PM Soooo, one week left? :)
jsigone 03-02-2008, 05:43 AM looks pretty good
L337Biker 03-05-2008, 05:01 AM i want itttt.. yesterday lol
xbbox 03-05-2008, 08:02 PM I wanted it 2 months ago when I preordered it, LOL!
I ordered the borla and TRD cold air monday, Should be in any day now. Ill have a video and pics up the following day! i cant wait for it to come in.!!!!!
xbbox 03-08-2008, 01:46 AM Ok, it's been 2 weeks now, any new updates?
NVMyTc 03-08-2008, 05:59 AM About one more week. They got their shipment of headers and S pipes for the TC, just waiting on their shipment of the XB exhaust.
I know everyone wants this exhaust, its just that speed-element is at the mercy of Tsudo, so most of the wait time is out of their control.
xbbox 03-08-2008, 01:51 PM What's the hold up? How long does it take to design an exhaust hanger? It's not that complicated. The only reason I'm going through them is that this is my 3rd Tsudo exhaust I buy from speed-element and the first 2 was great turn around times.
whitebreadbox 03-08-2008, 04:57 PM so whats the word? time range... price...??? :tap:
cincinfocal 03-10-2008, 02:34 AM still wantin to get the mid pipe...if it gets warm bfore this happens im just gonna make my own...
xbbox 03-18-2008, 02:32 PM I just sent an email to cancel my order. I need to see that it gets taking care of. Thanks!
scionboi06 03-22-2008, 01:58 PM I cancelled my order and it was to be refunded the next day the pending hold would drop off but instead they withdrew the money from my account!they took the money out of my account!
miketf1 03-23-2008, 03:28 AM this is too bad... i know the manufacturers are swamped but dragging it on for so long seems unfair.. for me, this month's impatient paycheck went to a TRD exhaust.
hope whoever is canceling their orders will get their money back
xbbox 03-23-2008, 01:20 PM I got my money back 2 days later and placed an order for the Borla at 2:25 on Thursday. At 2:43 I got an email saying my exhaust was shipped and I will receive it on Monday.
This would have been my 3rd Tsudo that I get from speed-element themself, but I'm very unhappy with the way they respond or DON'T respond to people.
I shot them 3 emails trying to get answers before I cancelled my order, but nothing.
But here you go, http://www.trdsparks.com/displayparts.php?Mdl_dtl=570&Part_cat=2&parts_id=1958
Dual Borla exhaust are in stock with very fast shipping and it's $20 cheaper at that!
cincinfocal 03-24-2008, 01:36 AM still just lookin to purchase the mid pipe scuba replacement piece...
speedelement 04-19-2008, 09:33 PM I got my money back 2 days later and placed an order for the Borla at 2:25 on Thursday. At 2:43 I got an email saying my exhaust was shipped and I will receive it on Monday.

Sorry, we were swamped with emails so we didn't respond as quickly as we would like to. The refund was still issued as promised, sorry we couldn't come through with the exhaust.
I cancelled my order and it was to be refunded the next day the pending hold would drop off but instead they withdrew the money from my account!they took the money out of my account!
Scionboi is a little confused on his payment, I responded right away on what was the problem and he just said nevermind and I guess at the same time he spammed all our threads saying we tried to steal his money. No responses from him ever since...
On a positive note, we did finally get the finished product from Tsudo yesterday and test fit it to the car. Some pics attached, a couple more on the website. Yea, it took forever...
Nice mellow tone at idle and cruising, audible if you gun it. Like we said earlier we tried to go for something most people would be comfortable with.
Soundclip (only mod is TRD intake, no other exhaust mods):

DAILYXB-TYPE-R 04-20-2008, 02:45 AM so this is a cat back exhaust system right
hey r u going to be selling the mid pipe from cat to axel seperatly?
if so how much
ScioXBox 04-24-2008, 04:05 AM Would it fit with the five axis kit? I'm sold if it does!
speedelement 04-24-2008, 08:53 PM Tsudo has updated us that we will be receiving the exhaust system in two weeks. We are doing a preorder sale for scionlife in our thread on the sponsor forum.
http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=3398304
hey r u going to be selling the mid pipe from cat to axel seperatly?

We have decided against designing the midpipe section. It makes the exhaust system much too loud and would be unbearable to most, especially for a xB.
Would it fit with the five axis kit? I'm sold if it does!
The Five Axis kit looks a little bit lower than the stock bumper. Our system does use mounts that can have shims added which will lower the muffler mounting which will allow it to fit. With that said, we still can't guarantee fitment with it right now.
so this is a cat back exhaust system right
It bolts onto the back of the resonator. Thanks
no not the mid pipe taking out the resonator
i mean the part from behind the cat to the axel
cazzerz 04-26-2008, 02:23 PM Hey Speed Element,
Do yo have pics from the right side looking towards the left? The reason I ask is I have a hitch on my xB for a bike rack and I know the Borla wont fit w/o cutting out a section of the hitch.
Thanks!
DAILYXB-TYPE-R 04-28-2008, 06:43 AM what are the size of the piping? 3"
speedelement 04-29-2008, 02:27 AM what are the size of the piping? 3"
piping is 2.5" to dual 2.5".
Hey Speed Element,

Thanks!
The best one I can dig up right now:

TrevorS 05-17-2008, 04:44 AM So, is anybody else waiting for these exhausts to ship -- or is it just me?
az_pinoy 05-17-2008, 04:49 AM i'm waiting too...i think 3 of us here in AZ...now they're saying Monday or Tuesday...
JC
Spike91 05-17-2008, 08:15 AM I don't really know exhaust stuff, but I am thinking of buying this system. I was wondering, do I need anything else besides just the exhaust system to make it run on my car? Like do I need an intake or header?
TrevorS 05-17-2008, 03:36 PM According to the description (and what we've been told) it's a bolt-on catback. Ergo, no other changes required :)!
i'm waiting too...i think 3 of us here in AZ...now they're saying Monday or Tuesday...
JC
The May 14th date is pretty old so I'm not too surprised to see a little slippage. Though naturally, sooner is better :)!
xbbox 05-18-2008, 02:45 AM Just get the Borla from http://trdsparks.com/displayparts.php?Mdl_dtl=570&Part_cat=2&parts_id=1958
It's cheaper, and you'll get it in like 4-5 days. I got tired of waiting for this exhaust after 3 months of it being on preorder and him saying 2 weeks away. Email him, get your money back, and go with the Borla. I freaking love it!!!!
TrevorS 05-18-2008, 04:49 AM $372.88 Vs. $379.95 -- true, a little cheaper, but not enough to get me especially concerned. Plus, the Borla skips resonators whereas the Tsudo has one per exhaust outlet. At least, I'm getting something for the extra $7, regardless of what difference it ultimately makes :)!
It could well be I'd be just as well off running the factory exhaust. Mine is damaged, but I could replace it for under $170 :)! Hey -- we do what we do, and hopefully we're OK with the results!
backyardballer 06-06-2008, 10:38 PM got my set delivered yesterday. installing i t this weekend. post pictures when its done. may be even a sound clip if i have time.
speedelement 06-06-2008, 10:42 PM there are instructions on the website for you or your installer, you should have also received it in an email from me. thanks!
backyardballer 06-07-2008, 09:01 AM there are instructions on the website for you or your installer, you should have also received it in an email from me. thanks!
got the email thanks, but i didn't get any tsudo or speed-element motorsports stickers.
Spike91 06-07-2008, 04:36 PM Hey speedelement, so I talked to you 2 days ago and I was the one that got sent the wrong thing in San Jose. Just wanted to let you know that I sent the box back to you yesterday. I was also wondering when is the soonest I will get the correct system?
Well, Got my exhaust and I know aftermarket would not be simple and easy,
Hey its the golden rule of modding. but, it floors me that a company would put out a cool looking dual exhaust and totally strike out with most of the major market its shooting for. Anyone that has a aftermarket body Bomex, 5 axis etc body kit etc... that wants duals exhaust.. welp... unless you want to do major mods to this exhaust to make it fit. Do not buy this kit, it will not fit.
any questions please PM.
NoLimitzBuilt 06-07-2008, 05:37 PM That sucks. I was hoping it would fit the aftermarket kits as well. I am looking for a dual set up for my Bomex kit and was hoping this would be close. It sounds like it is way off. I am going to stop by RJ's and take a look at it later and see.
Anyone try the Borla on a aftermarket body kit yet? Maybe we should start a sticky on here on what exhausts fit what.
az_pinoy 06-07-2008, 05:40 PM ^^
hey big J doesn't B-Lonz have the Borla on his?
anyway, you would think that it would tested against an xB with a Five Axis kit so that there's somekind of adjustment that can be done...it's not there's only 5 people out there that has a FIve Axis kit
JC
DREWxB08 06-10-2008, 06:01 PM got my set delivered yesterday. installing i t this weekend. post pictures when its done. may be even a sound clip if i have time.
Whats good any install pic's YET!!!
TrevorS 06-14-2008, 03:56 AM Come on people -- how does this exhaust system sound and look on your cars? I can't even get to mine yet since I'm stuck on the other side of the country, but I'd love to hear from others who've installed it!
shadowfactory 06-16-2008, 09:19 PM http://cm.ebay.com/cm/ck/1065-29392-2357-0?uid=491089658&site=0&ver=EOIBSA080805&lk=URL&Item=220243210019
I own this exhaust, though it is yet uninstalled. I'd love to hear feedback about this though: in the instructions. there is a cable that needs rerouted. In the final installed pictures the left pipe runs right over the rear vacuum box, which is plastic. For those who have this installed, have you seen any melting, or warping? how close is it to the box? the picture Ive seen is from directly below, so its hard to tell.
shadowfactory 06-17-2008, 10:31 PM For those of you thinking of buying this, here's my take..for what it's worth.
I installed it today. In the initial images from the prototype by speedelement, the pipe appeared to cross directly over the ventilator box...hence my apprehension. In actuality it passes over the rear of the box with about 1/2" clearance. I shimmed it out a bit with a nut (on top of the hanger bracket) to add another 1/2". It seems fine. I considered header tape, but as the pipe is pretty visable from the rear I decided against it. I might change my mind later. I fabricated a cap that can fit at the Y if it becomes an issue in the future, though. The hose (or cable) still required rerouting, but that was easy.
After installation I was underwhelmed to say the least. With the resonators in, it sounds pretty much stock. removing 4 allan screws and the 2 trumpets from the rear improved the sound dramatically.
It's throaty and deep. It doesn't sound ricey or raspy at all. It's beefy, but not incredibly loud (even without resonators) if that's what you're seeking. YMMV. I still have everything stock from the CAT forward, including headers and stock airbox, if that matters.
I dig these pipes. They are exactly what I was seeking. I'm not into attention from 5-0, so they are plenty loud for me.
Hope this helps.
Redbeard46 07-04-2008, 04:00 AM there are instructions on the website for you or your installer, you should have also received it in an email from me. thanks!
got the email thanks, but i didn't get any tsudo or speed-element motorsports stickers.
yeah dude, I DID get my order FAST, thank you. And it looks good, and correct for what I wanted, again, THANKS. :P
But again, one or two tsudo or speed-element motorsports stickers would be a nice touch. Any chance on getting these?
Finally got mine in. I had to do some mod work with it to make it fit with a 5 axis body kit.
Speed-element guys.. next time you mod something up... you really need to plan ahead! Majority of the body kits are set up for dual exhaust but your mocked one up with a stock xB??
Oh and PS.. nice comment on your sales page. Way to really care! :loser:
thanks for the feedback, sorry it didn't work out...
bump!
anywho.. enough baggin on them

Claydohxb 07-17-2008, 06:09 AM I have the Tsudo dual fire ball exh. And it is awwsome i love it. And if you are wondering it does NOT sound like a weed wacker. It is not loud at all. The sound is reall deep, And that is what you want. even mucle car guys at car shows love the way the exhaust sounds. Thanks speedelement!!!
srb219 07-17-2008, 08:32 AM did you guys remove the "trumpt style" silencers?
Redbeard46 07-17-2008, 02:26 PM did you guys remove the "trumpt style" silencers?
Yes I did. :P It didn't sound a lot better than stock without doing so. It sounds GREAT now. Nice deep sound.
DREWxB08 07-17-2008, 05:11 PM Finally got mine in. I had to do some mod work with it to make it fit with a 5 axis body kit.

Oh and PS.. nice comment on your sales page. Way to really care! :loser:
thanks for the feedback, sorry it didn't work out...
bump!
anywho.. enough baggin on them

What did you have to do in order for it to fit the kit?, im looking into getting either the 5axis kit or the bomex kit.
DREWxB08 08-15-2008, 08:26 PM Well i ended up going with this exhaust. Was looking into getting Borla but felt i get more for my money with the Tsudo kit def looking fowared to installing the exhaust once it gets here. Pic will come after.
cnstarz 08-16-2008, 05:09 AM is there a dyno on this yet?
srb219 08-16-2008, 10:46 AM I'm very satisfied with my Tsudo dual. Easy to install. System is quiet. I am reluctent to remove the muffler trumpet baffels because I think motor needs suffient back pressure for performance
Claydohxb 08-16-2008, 10:56 AM I took my baffles out purly 4 looks it hurt my performance a little but not enough to really notice. The kit is still quiet with out the baffles.
DREWxB08 08-16-2008, 03:05 PM Im def takeing out the trumpet baffels, Need some Deep sound so when i give it some gas the Intake and exhaust work and sound killer. My Next step is getting the Wepon-R header and installing my Agency Power Crank pully. All that should make up for the Little Loss in power.
Claydohxb 08-17-2008, 10:41 AM Iv been looking 4 the weapon R header! Wher can i get one?
DAILYXB-TYPE-R 08-18-2008, 01:21 AM check here and see if he have any in stock.

stuckpig9 08-21-2008, 01:44 AM I have this exhaust for trade. I love it but I'm in need of cash. Link is in my sig.
bmph8ter 08-21-2008, 03:42 AM Nice looking exhaust; looking forward to the video.
DREWxB08 08-21-2008, 03:43 AM Lovin the exhuast - but only a few hours after installation (and driving around town and eventually home) I checked up on the exhaust (took a look underneath the rear bumper)to make shure all was well and noticed that the rear bushing on the passenger side was missing and the front bushing was loose. I took a look over to the driver side bushings and they were loose also. Having only one bushing caused the passenger side muffler to slighty sag along with the rest of the piping all the way back to the cat :nails: Installation was done by ASE certified professional mechanics and everything was fine before leaving the shop (I even watched them as they installed it) The only thing that could have been done to prevent this would be using a nut at the end of the rod through the bushings (which were not included or recommended by Tsudo or Speed-Element.com) Using two nuts to hold the bushings tight should be a quick fix but now to get another bushing :x
Anyone else have a similar issue with the hangers or bushings?? or any idea where I can get a replacment bushing??
Speed-Element any chance of resolving the issue witha replacement bushing?? :|
Sorry for the novel....

speedelement 08-21-2008, 07:56 PM a nut should have been included to hold the bushing onto the threaded rod. Was there not one to begin with?
Are you missing bushings from both sides or just the passenger? Please PM me your order/confirmation number. Thanks.

Thanks for the response.
TrevorS 08-21-2008, 09:04 PM The exhaust looks good and I'm glad to hear you like it :)! Looking forward to learning how the bushing problem resolves. Still delayed on getting back to my car and doing the install -- the exhaust kit arrived early June, but I had to leave the week before :(!

I have this exhaust and love it, I just got my hands on my friends five axis rear bumper B4 he installed it and to me it just need's to be shimmed down a bit on both sides and pipe's moved a little to the left and right. After that I don't see a problem. I'm problee going to get the five axis kit around DEC for my birthday. I like the exhaust too much and did not wanna pass it up littlle work to make a lip kit fit to me is well worth it.

Another member on the forum had installed it on his xB2 with 5axis kit and said it needed major work to fit.................. I got a hold of a 5axis bumper b4 it was installed on another xb2 and matched the 5axis bumper up to my stock bumper with the Tsudo Exhaust and was only off by a little. im gonna be getting a lip kit DEC and don't see a major problem installing it, I mean I could be wrong but the exhaust is great and well worth making it work with a kit.

shirohako 09-02-2008, 10:48 PM Just spoke to Tony with Speed-Element regarding the fitment issues with the 5 AXIS lip kit and the Tsudo dual exhaust system.
They are aware of the issue but have no way of re-designing the exhaust system without a test vehicle. I explained to him that alot of us are interested in buying but don't want to hassle modifying it. Anyone willing to take their car in?
Presently they have about 20 (?) dual exhaust systems in stock. I told him if he were to "modify them to fit" a 5AXIS kit, he would probably sell all of them!
I was thinking of the Borla system (and still may buy it) but it's hard to justify spending that much for just tailpipes/tips.
Sorry for the long rant, but one last thing, the Tsudo exhaust is street-legal in Ca. according to Tony. If I understood him correctly, as long as it is below 95 db(?),not hanging down low and the cat is left alone you're good to go. His exhaust system meets all these criteria. Just sharing.

Finally got home Saturday night! (The exhaust has been waiting for me since early June!)
Spent Sunday on window ventguard installation (two cars) and started on the Tsudo dual exhaust Monday (painting). Expecting to be done Tuesday. Car needs a wash :(!
PS. I notice the kit provides two fewer nuts than bolt threads (including the two rear hanger threads.) If I'm actually two short, I'm hoping the tow hook hardware will cover the shortfall. It would be nice if a parts list was included so I could be sure nothing was missing.
The kit includes a stack of washers, but I don't see any indication of where they are used (outside of two per each of the two bushings.) At the moment, I'm guessing they're for adjusting the gap between the resonator exits and the body (install as needed.) Seems like the washers opposite the nut side of the bushings tend to slip over the hanger bends and down towards the resonators -- don't know what the solution is to that! (These observations are all pre-install.)
Any comments Speed-Element?
TrevorS 09-30-2008, 07:41 PM Just got the old exhaust off the car -- those bolts at the axle flange required my 1/2" breaker bar, and that was with low miles! Freeing the rear hanger from the donut was also a pill, but it came!
Thought I'd take a quick photo of the painted pipes so you'd know what I'm talking about. It's just the two rears.

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a33/TrevorSt/TsudoExhaust2.jpg
Looks like the bushing to chassis bolts go into threaded holes, so I guess the nut count should be just fine :). I do think it would be a good idea to have a parts list though!
xseveredveganx 09-30-2008, 11:13 PM Nice! I can't wait to see how this looks with the painted pipes!
I really like this kit, but I'm still waiting for more options. I kinda want the best "bang for my buck", if you will.
I've already sourced out hi-temp powdercoating and I have a powdercoating guy. :D
DAILYXB-TYPE-R 10-01-2008, 02:18 AM can't wait till you have pic installed. i've seen many pics even in person i like the idea and it looks really clean but the only thing i didn't like about the exhaust is that chrome/stainless steel part that you've painted. i think it'll look sick
XD40tC 10-01-2008, 02:57 AM Some quality pieces right there!
TrevorS 10-01-2008, 03:40 AM Wwll, as you guys have apparently figured out, my purpose is to make the interconnection and mounting stiff disappear (not worrying about the cat-to-axle section.) Hence, only the resonators and exits appear as the original stainless teel, all else behind the axle is flat-black. Powder coat would no doubt be better, but a spray can of hi-temp and a 91% isopropyl cleaning will hopefully at least get me close.
In a way, it's kind of silly since you have to be fairly low before you notice the crossover pipe and resonator hangers, but still -- these cars are intended to be personalized, no?
In any case, I ran out of time on Tuesday, so it's looking like Wednesday, for install completion :)!
TrevorS 10-01-2008, 06:36 PM All done! Just letting the car idle while I post this, then I'll take it for a drive and get lunch :)!
In terms of appearance and fit , I'd say it turned out pretty well.

The only thing I'm noticing is the driver's side tip doesn't extend out from under the rear quite as far as the passenger side, though the left-to-right centering appears excellent. I was able to get the tip clearance to match without shims.
TrevorS 10-01-2008, 08:28 PM Well, I'm liking the Tsudo Fireball Dual Exhaust very much. For the first time, the engine sounds and exhaust sound seem integrated, like they all belong. Just a little bit of rumble to balance out the package :)!
Seems quicker too, though no doubt that's just my imagination at work :). Definitely more enjoyable to drive now.
DAILYXB-TYPE-R 10-01-2008, 08:52 PM that is sweeeeeeeeeet. i'd bet many others will follow your doing and just spending an extra $6- $9 for paint is will worth it. great job
TrevorS 10-01-2008, 11:18 PM Thanks, it's just a question of having the patience really, rather than going for a quick install! Still, it's the rare person that will ever see those pipes and hangers anyway! However, I prefer it this way :).

speedelement 10-03-2008, 06:16 PM Sorry, it looks like we were too late to help TrevorS out, but we do have instructions posted on our website.
It will clear up the confusion some have about the mounting of the exhaust.
http://www.speed-element.com/instructions/08_scionxb_fireball_catback.pdf
TrevorS 10-03-2008, 08:29 PM Thanks for the note speed-element :)!
Just a follow up:
I sent an email to speed-element inquiring as to the recommended minium vertical spacing between the exhaust tips and the rear bumper fascia. He responded they had used 1/4" with their car, and that 1/2" should definitely be safe. He also said the tips need to extend at least a little beyond the fascia.
My spacing without shims is about 3/16", so I've decided to add washers to approximate 1/2". When I tried to do this, I found the provided shim washers have to small a center hole to install over the tow hook bolts (which are used to mount the hanger bushings.) So, I just bought eight M12 metric washers (12 cents each at Sears hardware) -- they fit correctly. So, that's something else for people to be aware of.
Also, I notice the passenger side bushing washer located away from the hanger nut had indeed slipped over the bend of the hanger while driving the car. The driver's side washer stayed in place due to close proximity of the bushing. Since I don't see a way to prevent this slippage, I guess I'm just going to have to glue the washer to the bushing.
DAILYXB-TYPE-R 10-03-2008, 08:49 PM i was driving behind a bsp xb w/tusdo exhaust, me and a few friends completely see the chrome/stainless steel section so we did mention if that part is blacken out that'll be sweet like what trevors done
mcdady099 10-08-2008, 02:37 AM I just put mine on today. I like how it looks, but its a little to quit for me. Also I had to add 8 washers on the drivers side and 3 washers on the passenger side to make the gap from the bumper to the exhaust to be the same. Its only 1/4 inch gap. I guess we will see if it burns the bumper.

I have had mine for months, No change in color or burnt spots on the bumper, give it some time and it will break in a little sound wise.
srb219 10-08-2008, 09:20 AM same here had mine 4 months. roughly 1/4 to 3/8 gap to bumper. used washers also. everything fine except I think it's too quiet also
TrevorS 10-09-2008, 12:55 AM Just a quick comment :)!
I don't know if this will start an argument or be considered bull**** or what, BUT:
I accept the Tsudo Dual probably has minimal if any effect on horsepower, but I'm wondering if it helps the torque any? I made a standing start left turn at a light controlled intersection today that I could swear was quicker than ever before, it seemed to jump (I'd been forced to wait for cross traffic during a quick green light -- didn't want to lose it .) The rest of the exhaust is stock, but it really did seem to come on stronger than before (torque, not horsepower!)
Imagination? Or is there actually something going on here? My only other engine mods are CAI and pulley, but it sure seemed to me that exhaust upgrade made a difference pulling out from that light :)!

Def feel the same way,,,Both the intake and exhaust made some what of a difference over stock. I love it and def feel's alot better iver stock.
Ok, I been away for a bit and dug up this post.
I want this exhaust. Has someone installed this with the Five Axis kit? Yes, I have. If your handy with a welder and some fabrication. See below.
It does not fit the Five Axis kit, "rj" tried it and it seems like it requires major modification to the rear section.
Yes, I did and at that point in time I was a little upset at you all for things that were said that I took as a bit unprofessional. BUT
This is what I did to make the exhaust fit under my lowered xB with the 5 axis kit.
Now I still have a rattle issue since the bushings fell out a while back. That and I had to relocated a brake line to move it over to the right some since I had to space out the exhaust a bit. It was sitting right against the exhaust. There is 2 brackets that holds a steel line that is about 4" long. I just cut them down a bit and re-welded them back so they would not rub up against the exhaust.

I also had to lower the mounting points about 2" downward. The only other issue I have since I am about 3" lower than stock it rattles every now and again against the suspension but, that is what I get for being dropped. I am still working on a mid point mount to see if I can pull it up a bit more to stop this issue. I just have been working way to much to have any free time to tinker.
I like the way it sounds and how it looks on the xB, I just was little upset at these guys for missing the mark on setting it up for more than the application for a "stock" xb and for all of us that would use body kits out there.
Here is what it looks like Rolling down the road.

None at all.
Buddy at work has a RS 5.0 with this exhaust. Just make sure to get everything hanging then do your adjustments. Then go back and tighten everything down. Don't forget to make sure on the hanger you go washer bushing bushing washer and nut (add loctite) or you will loose your bushings and have rattles.
DAILYXB-TYPE-R 11-17-2008, 04:01 AM very nice murderer box you have there. one of the best bsp out there thats simple and clean

Just get the HKS unit. :D
TrevorS 11-18-2008, 08:04 PM SO....there us NO WAY to make this a single exit?
I suppose you could block off the 'Y' crossover flange that couples to the left side pipe. It would take a piece of steel and you could use the provided gasket and bolts.

I wonder how that would sound........ :eyebrow:
TrevorS 11-25-2008, 11:00 PM Just thought I'd mention I've seen a few posts by people who lost hanger nuts and even bushings due to the nuts coming loose. Mine hadn't loosened at all, but I decided to go safe. I just picked up some blue threadlock (as a safeguard) for a particular bolt on my Eclipse, and so I also applied it to both hanger threads and retightened the nuts. Seems like it might be a good idea for anyone installing any exhaust actually. Just a little insurance :)!
NoLimitzBuilt 11-26-2008, 02:35 AM So I see there is no repsonse about it not fitting with the 5 axis kit? Figured that would be one of the most talked about issues really. Since the kit is a factory option.

Yea me too. I figured this thread would be little more busy. Even some chiming in from SpeedElement . Guess its old news.

PDX_xB 09-27-2009, 06:51 AM Just spoke to Tony with Speed-Element regarding the fitment issues with the 5 AXIS lip kit and the Tsudo dual exhaust system.
Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I'm wondering if there has be any progress on modifying/adapting the Tsudo Dual Fireball Exhaust to work with the 5-Axis kit? I can't imagine why this wasn't done in the first place as these two items seem like a match made in heaven - if they were only compatible.
So, it's been over a year since the quoted post was made. Has there been any progress at all on this issue? Or, is the Tsudo exhaust still as incompatible as ever with the 5-Axis kit? If it was compatible, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. If it's not, it's deal breaker for me (and most likely many others).

coryjames 09-27-2009, 11:50 AM It works you just have to mod it takes 5 mins
PDX_xB 09-27-2009, 10:18 PM It works you just have to mod it takes 5 mins
So, was it redesigned to work with the 5-Axis kit? Early posts indicate that it doesn't come close to fitting and requires extensive mods.
So, what simple 5 minute mod to you perform on your Tsudo dual cat back exhaust to make it work with your 5-Axis kit? Can you provide photos of your mod and the finished install (a full DYI would be great). I don't doubt you, I just want to see what is required and how it looks when done.

Flawlessly 09-29-2009, 02:18 AM Alright, so is this Tsudo catback or axleback? I ask this cos I saw someone show only axleback with black paint on, hope to clear this out before I put my hammer down.
TrevorS 09-29-2009, 03:12 AM I'm guessing the photo you're referring to was mine. However, instead of just going by what people here say, I suggest visiting their website and carefully reviewing the description and photos before spending any money.

Saw your video, would that makes a different sound with silencer on or off? How to remove it?

I keep for getting i made a video of the exhaust :!:
To me it sounded the same with or with out the silencers in. They are held in by a 10mm bolt and allen key if i remember (very easy to take on and off at anytime) I say leave them out and enjoy the slight deep rumble it makes
srb219 10-03-2009, 10:32 AM Anyone that has the silencers (trumpets) just laying around. Experimenting with exhaust sound and need some. Will pay for shipping etc. Scuba delete is loud and need to tone down a bit.
conoven 10-11-2009, 04:15 AM so how does this sound on an auto?
P.S. - I knew i should have got a manual when i got my XB, I was tired of manual when i bought it :-/

I love the Auto Work's great and responds well to bolt on's.... Use to 5-speed's but was fed up and tired of shifting lol Now i just sit back cruse and have to do no work!!!
srb219 10-12-2009, 10:33 AM Drew, just a neat video. Wish I knew know to make one. Mine would be much louder because of scuba delete.

What did you replace it with? I've been thinking of doing the scuba delete, and replacing with the Aero XL2525 Resonator.

Answering my own question in hope that others will find it useful.
Speedelements replied in this thread (http://www.scionlife.com/forums/showthread.php?t=167185) on Octobr 5th that a new version of the Tsudo Fireball dual exhaust specifically designed to work with the Five Axis kit will be available within two months:
"Production has already started on the five axis exhaust kit, should be receiving it within 2 months."
I have my Five Axis kit on the way. So, I'm hoping the Tsudo dual exhaust will be here in time for Christmas.

this pic is from june and i didnt have a problem fitting it i just took one of those springs that are from the original muffler bolts and 3 washers and it dropped nicely into place...also recently did a scuba delete with a straight pipe now...so my exhaust setup is extrememly loud as i have weapon r headers and s pipe to straight pipe to catback dual exhaust...

NY in the house!!!! Man i miss my home town =-(
Car looks amazing!! Do you have any sound clips?
srb219 10-14-2009, 10:17 AM My exhaust is Strup headers w/ black High temp coating, stock "S" pipe w/CEL eliminator in O2 sensor port. Summit racing small cat and Hush power muffler. Then standard Tsudo duals. I drilled and perforated the silencers (trumpets) in effort to create a baffle and tone down. Helped very little. It's loud especially with any throttle. Mileage increased by 2 MPG and midrange HP feels great, but the noise gets to you.
tw39515 05-10-2011, 07:31 PM Just wanted to give Tony and Speed-Element a shout out. great guys easy to work with and super customer service. Tony found me a version one kit as i dont have the five axis kit. Thanks guys Todd Williams.
