Default Auto to Manual

im new to ScionLife. i recently found the site while looking for info on my scion.
i just got an 07 tc. at first i wasnt very excited about having a 4cylinder car. my previous car a Z28 camaro. due to unfortunate events my Camaro is out of commission. sadly sitting in my driveway. so i picked up a scion since it was the first car i wanted while in highschool ( back in '05). so like the title states i wanted to trade my auto for stick. i wanted to know some of SL's opinions on what exaclty to go for. and possible price differences. my tc has about 11000 miles already . ive been reading a few things and seen alot about rs1's and so forth how the hell do i tell which i have?! i know i may be asking a whole lot of dumbass Question.. but plz help. thnx. dont flame me too bad
. also sry if this was posted in the wrong area.

You have a 2007 tC and you want one that's 2 years older?

RS1s came out in 2005.

I'd rather keep an automatic new car than to trade it for one that's much older, most likely more miles and beaten.

trading in the same car for a different transmission doesn't seem logical for me unless you plan to do major mods.

If I were you, wait a year until the next gen tC comes out, then trade her in.

well it will be kind of hard to find a RS1 now, because...well, they dont make them anymore and not a whole lot of people are selling theirs...

any way you look at it, I think you will probably take a loss if you trade your auto for a manual....that is expected when you trade it in...ohhh ill give you 12k for your automatic but i will sell you the exact same car with a manual tranny for 16k,,,

that is why they call it a stealership....

well.... i know a few RS1's for sale up here in the bay area..

but to clarify.. the Release Series has a limited number in production... the RS1.0 being the first and released in the 2005 year... 2500 available.. and in Absolute Red.

Release Series all have a serial number.. you will know if you have one or not... if you're unsure.. than you probably don't have one.

either way.. any trade you will take a loss in.. but unlike some "smart" people out there that believe it..

trading a vehicle in will be more likely to be cheaper than for someone to attempt a tranny swap in a current vehicle.

SqHeart best answered my Q. thnx. I wanted to trade in my auto for manual to be able to get more out of it and to put more into it. I thought It be kinda dumb to do any moding on an auto.. but that's my opinion. how much would a tranny(lol) swap cost? I assumed it would cost a crazy amount.

also thnx to all who answered.
I'm fairly new and have fairly little knowledge of cars and modifying them. so slowly I'm learning. I will try to read some of the previous post, to minimize the amount of questions I post that may have already been answered.

well...to get you started...a new manual transmission for the tc costs $2800. then you need a clutch and flywheel, which is about $500 to $700 dollars depending on which brand and level you decide on...then you need...clutchline, clutch pedal...oh, you'll need one new half shaft i think because the driver manual half shaft is different from the automatic, so there is about $340 right there...don't know how much labor would cost you...oh, and you'll have absolutely no powertrain warranty either...

...especially since he'll need to get his ECU reflashed to a non-auto program, almost certainly by a dealer.

OP: You bought it as a reliable DD; just leave it as-is and spend the money getting your Z28 running again.
