Default teins or trd's

ok so i have an 08, looking at either sticking with 17's or maybe upgrade to 18's soon, as well as getting the CF lip kit. and i know the TRD are a 1" drop and are actually even, but was curious what the drop is on the s-tech's, or what not ( because i have found s-tech's as same price for the TRD ones) any help would be greatly greatly appreciated.

s-techs drop the tC 2.4 in the front and 2.0 in the back. it takes care of the entire wheel gap when on stock 17's. i have TRD on mine and love the drop. they settle real nice so of course i prefer TRD. i have the OEM lip kit on my car and my car looks sick with the drop so i think you should stick with TRD because with s-techs youll blow your shocks quick and youre gonna have to be extra careful to make sure you keep that pretty CF lip of yours pretty.

alright cool. ya i'll go the TRD once i can get the money for the install as the damn dealership wants 950 for the install and shocks (Granted i can get the shocks hella cheaper) and i dont want a huge drop that will kill the shocks. how long will the shocks last with TRD??

I think you can get quite a few miles with stock shocks and only a TRD drop, but i'll let someone else verify

trd is a mild drop so, it's not going to wear it out faster than the s-tech. The dealership has a tc dropped on s-tech. It looks nice sits pretty low, easy to get in the car. I notice that they didn't change any of the struts and shocks.

I think a tc on s-tech, you would have to be really careful where you drive. I have the s-techs on the corolla and it rode pretty good, I just had to avoid a lots deep pot holes and nasty railroad tracks and dips.

if you get s-techs, you might as well change out the struts at the same time so you don't have to do the labor twice

If this tC is your daily driver, go with TRD Springs. Aggressive yet subtle drop (1.25"+) that doesn't really affect the ride. Also, looks really clean with 18s. (Check my "profile" for pics.) You won't have to swap out your struts but I do recommend that you get front and rear sway bars.

the TRDs are great and you don't need the TRD shocks with them. i had them on my car for a full year with no issues...till I swapped for the Hotchkis. the TRDs LOOK higher in the front then the rear.
S.Techs are a much more drastic drop, but you could go with the Tien H.Techs which are in between the two, but do not leave the larger gap in front.

I have comparison shots of stock vs. TRD vs. Hotchkis on my cardomain site:
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/330754/3
However, I only had to hit one big bump with the hotchkis to blow my front shocks.

I was more then happy with the ride of my TRD. Just was not happy with the look...or the cost...gotta pay for those 3 letters!

ya its a daily driver. damn that sucks about blowing the shocks. so the trd make the front look higher? that sucks!! i wasa going to do the megan racing ones and found out the back was almost higher than it already is stock. figures i want the trd's but dont want the look of front being higher than back (ya found the trd's for same price on ebay as the s-tech's but i can't do s-techs if i'm gonna do the lip kit and drive every day.

Yeah, some say the TRDs are equall all around...but you can see from the pics they are just slightly higher up front then in back. Megans are CRAP!
I think you would be happy with the Tien H. Techs or the Eiback Pro Kit.

I would go with the Tein's. I like the comfortable ride with my H-Techs. And for my taste I like the appearance they give.

which lip kit?

might as well change out your struts too so you don't have to do double the labor later...

H-techs would probably be best. You may be TOO low if you go with s-techs

You dont' need new struts with H.techs. They barely drop lower then TRD.
