Default Two box family

Last week my wife and I bought our second xB. It's an 06 BOP automatic with under 30 K miles for $14,400 . Thanks to bB2ner for the lead on autotrader.com, we found it about 45 minutes from here. Once she saw a dark blue one, she was sold. (she doesn't like white). Now the only problem is having two identical fobs and keys on our keyrings.

Yeah, we have 2 too. But ones a '05 and the other a'08. So there are 2 different FOBs.

I'm so glad it worked out for you. I knew she would love the box like the rest of us do.
I am always searching on Autotrader just to watch the xB market and see where Hotlavas are for sale. Congtrats!

CONGRATS!

Can both cars be programmed to work with both fobs? I think so. I tried to do that with our '05 Camry and Stubby ('06 xB), but the frequency is different; the frequencies would be the same for two xBs, though . . . I think. (Hmmmm . . . I sound REALLY confident in this idea, don't I? ;^)

Why not give it a try? Here are the steps: https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=16563

I have two '05 xBs too. In my keybox near the door I have 6 sets of identical keys, 3 for each car. It's a nightmare every day getting keys to go to work, even after having other stuff on my keyring so that I know it's mine.
Hey, it's 5am and I'm still half asleep when I'm grabbing for my keys.
I've been meaning to get a different remote entry fob case, but I haven't been able to find any.

Good idea pooder. I'm going to look into programing both fobs. Oh, and Saddlesore, Salem really isn't that big, so maybe we'll see eachother around town. I put my 17's on my wife's dark blue one for her birthday, so I have stock steelies on my white one for now. I thought about painting the stock wheels body color but Lovegrove autobody wanted $350 to paint them

We also have 2 XB's. My wife's is blue, mine white. I was in the process of setting mine up to autocross in STS class, but apparently few event coordinators will allow them on the course. that seems like a lot of crap considering how much more stable XB's actually are compared to many cars that are allowed. Oh well...I'll pick up a TC once these are paid off.

Just got to thinking if I programmed both fobs the same, then I'd unlock and lock both boxes everytime.I guess I'll just use reflective tape on the fob so I can tell them apart.

Well, yeah, if both boxes were within range of the fob. I was just thinking it would be handier to have one fob with both keys so you'd have the right fob and right key no matter which box you were driving; you'd still have to identify each key, of course . . . .

OUCH, for that coin you could get a nice set of 15" aluminum wheels.
Have you thought about getting some trim rings and chrome lugs and just painting the stock wheels silver using some Duplicolor wheel paint?

Actually I looked at the thread on steel wheels and got some ideas. I only paid $700 for my 17" RSW's and Goodyear Fierce tires, so I can't justify spending much more than a hundred bucks on the steelies. Do you think Dupli-color and clearcoat would look good in Polar White?

Color matching the steelies to polor white would look hot. I always love seeing white cars with white wheels. I'm pretty sure that duplicolor makes white wheel paint. If not use some white engine enamel then clearcoat em.

I got both our boxes running on Powder coated steelies. $50 each wheel, $200 per box.(plus "bling "rings and cups)
you might try an outfit in Aumsville or the one on hwy 22 west of Salem.

Saddlesore, those boxes look great. I'm inspired. I may just go ahead and do my wheels in white afterall. I think I have seen your xB's around..

Both being unlocked doesn't matter though. If you don't open a door within 30 seconds, the car will re-lock the doors with no intervention from you. I was worried about the same thing when I reprogrammed both of ours until I remembered that. Oh, and it's really cool to see the look on peoples faces if we both go somewhere in separate cars. Everyone is always like WTF?!

As for the keys, we have a Polar White (05) and a Shadow Mica (06), so I just filled in the 05's key (just the logo actually) with a bit of white paint. Worked perfectly for us.

Oh, and congrats on being a 2box family!

Thanks, you're right...it does relock itself. I'll check with the local Toyota dealer Monday to see what reprogramming costs. (unless someone out there knows how?)
