TheDanger 10-27-2004, 07:36 PM look in the gallery...tanabes and goldlines put you at the lowest...just depends on what kind of drop you want...
xtremeOrange 10-27-2004, 07:37 PM Best I can do is a comparison in the height on stock wheels with Tanabe DF210's (2.2" drop)

I'm running the TRD springs, 18" rims, 215/35 tires. The ride isn't too rough, handles well, and still has enough suspension travel that I'm not bottoming out going into and out of driveways and such.
If just a red "X" is showing, here's the link:

MiniBrinks 10-28-2004, 05:45 PM Hey try looking at the web site www.intensepower.com they really have good prices on all kinds of springs from theTein's to Goldlines and everything inbetween good luck!! you can look at my ride on the XB parts/spring section i'm on 17" konig's w/ Tein-S Techs..
TheScionicMan 10-28-2004, 05:47 PM nice cars... i wanna get some springs too. im trying to decide over the trd's or teins. What do you guys think? Prices?
Yes, PRICE is what made the final decision for me...
wyldkard 10-28-2004, 05:51 PM I got the Tanabe DF210's. Haven't taken a pic yet, waiting for them to settle fully. Tucking back tire, almost tucking front tire. I got them at http://www.ptuning.com for around $155 or close to it, and SL.com members get an additional 5% off of that. Good springs, highly recommended.

no i didnt name them best to least, everyone is going to think differently..It all depends on how low you want to go, I have a contact Fuji that can get you any set beside RS*R and sprints for the same price 150.00 shipped....
so how low do you want to go? Everyone loves goldlines, 2'' is a nice drop and never heard one bad thing about them.....DF210's are the ____ great stance, S-echs(what I use) drop nice and quite stiff....so give it thought......

Scionlife member Jun, bought springs from me back in January, and he lowered his polarhite with 18's it look really great, the lowering is not the problem, it is buying rims with the propper offset is the trick.
There are peeps running 20's with a lowerring kit on and have no problems once again, is the right offset on the wheel. We have a girl in our chapter who purchased an used Xb with 18,s but the offset was wrong and the rims caused the tire to rub. I have lowered a c3 cars with 18's and one with 19's using goldlines and had rubbing issues.
To answer the second part of your question, about changing struts and shocks, in my opinion I would say no. I have 26,000 on my car with lowereing springs and 17" tires and It still rides great. I lowered mine with 800 miles on it. The lowerring spring will contrbute to premature strut and spring wear out, but not at the dramtic rate that some people think. I would venture to maybe at best, 15% faster. Remember these cars haven't been around long enough for us to know for sure, but I haven't heard of anyones front end collasping because of lowering spring that were properly installed. Bill

are you talking about the sprints?
if thats the case ill stick to tanabe. i want the lowest drop on 18's
Fujiz_xb 12-06-2004, 06:32 PM ^^^ looks nice...
scionspecialistvegas 12-07-2004, 12:10 AM The few dealings that I have had with sprints are they are soft and some sag issues, these cases were friends with honda's. Tanabes are good choice, so are Tiens, Goldlines & eibachs.
SWF_05_tC 12-07-2004, 03:53 AM Here's mine. These pics were taken about 5 minutes after installing the Megan Racing springs (1.8F, 2.0R). $120 shipped, and they sit real nice and low. Ride isn't too shabby either.

http://image20.webshots.com/20/5/36/80/228553680AKypOY_ph.jpg
KevinxB 12-07-2004, 02:57 PM Did you measure the actual drop after putting on the Megan springs? Their site is confusing. In one place it says they drop 2" front, 1.75 rear, and in another place it says 1.85" front and rear. I'm confused.
SWF_05_tC 12-07-2004, 03:44 PM I really didn't, however, I can tell you that it *looks* more like 2" all-around, if not a tiny bit more. They haven't settled yet, that usually takes a couple weeks. So 5 minutes after the install I was only able to get one finger in between the wheel well and the tire (215/45/17). Now it is less after 3 days. Can't complain for $120 shipped. I'd be willing to bet they will be as low as the DF210's.
SWF_05_tC 12-07-2004, 03:46 PM If someone can do me a favor and measure the arch of the wheel well to the ground on a level surface with the stock 15" steelies on the front and back, I can provide an "after drop" comparison. Thanks.
KevinxB 12-07-2004, 03:53 PM Thanks for the info. Be sure to keep us updated on the drop and the ride after everything has settled.
scion1616 12-07-2004, 07:13 PM scion xb tein ss coilovers for sale. they only have about 2500 miles on them. i am swaping to air bags so i need to sell them. will sell for 950.00. i paid 1300.00 for them. i live in mobile, al. 251-391-0347
SWF_05_tC 12-07-2004, 08:53 PM Ok.. I went out and measured. In all 4 wheel wells, at the top of the arch, it is EXACTLY 25.0 inches from arch to ground. Given the fact that I am running a taller tire than stock, anyone who can give me a stock measurement with stock steelies will be much appreciated.
I am running 215/45/17's which are 0.9 inches taller than the stock 185/60/15's. So, someone please get me a stock measurement, arch to ground, on the front and back and we can get this "how much of a drop?" thing settled. :-)
Buebie 12-08-2004, 12:46 AM My car is the one with the 5 spoke rims. I have 17's with TRD springs. The car with the black rims has 18" Motegi rims and Tein S-Tech springs.
I am not happy with my drop! I should have gotten the Tein S-Tech's or Hotchkis springs.

hotbox05 12-08-2004, 01:23 AM just a random question but why does everyone use the wrong size tires on 17's?
i mean 215/45/17? does no one know that this is wrong? geez. nothin lik raisin up yer car while messin up yer speedo in the process. does get rid of a very small amount of fender gap tho. but still.
Buebie 12-08-2004, 01:35 AM I went with 40's, but some people dont have the best roads. Here in MN, there are potholes every other section of the road. I for one dont want to dent a rim....
SWF_05_tC 12-08-2004, 02:31 AM just a random question but why does everyone use the wrong size tires on 17's?
i mean 215/45/17? does no one know that this is wrong? geez. nothin lik raisin up yer car while messin up yer speedo in the process. does get rid of a very small amount of fender gap tho. but still.
They're not the "wrong" size tire... The speedo thing is fine by me, so it's off 3.7% at 60mph, big deal, I can keep track of that. More side wall and contact area means less probability of bending or curbing a rim and gives a better ride while filling the wheel gap a little better. It will only throw off the speedomoter, the actual odometer reading will be accurate as the car uses the VSS to track "actual" mph and odometer readings. The speedo is not getting the same readings the VSS is getting, just FYI. 205/40/17 doesn't match stock perfectly either, the speedo will still be very slightly off. I can't trust that I will only be driving on perfect roads, and as easy as it is to have a rim replaced, I'd rather not have to deal with it.
Less probability of a bent rim.
Better ride.
Better wheel well clearance.
Doesn't seem like the wrong size tire to me.
KevinxB 12-08-2004, 02:32 AM Any rubbing with those size tires, SWF?
SWF_05_tC 12-08-2004, 03:08 AM Nope, not at all. I've put about 900 miles on the car since saturday :-O, so the springs should have almost settled if not completely settled by now. And no rubbing what so ever. BTW, I am running these tires on a 17x7.0 with a +40mm offset.
KevinxB 12-08-2004, 03:11 AM Same size wheels as me, but I have 205/40s. I think I'm going to go bigger when they wear out. The 205s were just what came in the package I bought.
