Default Snow tire package?

hey guys,

for those of you who live in an area that has a good amount of snow in the winter, are you considering a winter tire setup? heard the stock tires are pretty horrible in wet and snow conditions. would you minus size to 16" or maybe 15"s?

I live in the NE and I will be going w/ snow tires. I'll probably just run 17's on the stock rims...I know Blizzaks come in 17's as do some of the Nokian Haakkapilittas(sp?)...both sets are touted as a "higher" performance snow tire.

I'd go with the smaller of the two (15"). Tires are cheaper and you'll have a much wider selection than sticking with the 17" wheels. IMO Blizzaks are waaaay overpriced. You can do better for less.

Yeah, you can probably get a set of 15" snow tires on steel wheels for the same price as just the 17" snow tires.

I'll be trying to find some steelies to put a set of snows on for the winter. for take-offs they're usually pretty cheap, maybe $25-30/rim, so for an extra $100 you don't have to worry about remounting your good tires in the spring. Great, my only upgrades are a roof rack and snows... the ricers on here must hate me...

Default TireRack

Tire Rack has tire and wheel package for the tC... which I am planning to get sometimes next month.

Comes with 4 BridgeStone Blizzak WS-50 (195/60-15) for 316.00 & 4 Steel Wheels (15x6) for 128.00 = $444.00

I probably won't have it shipped since they have a warehouse close to me where I can just go pickup. Probably sales tax... so probably my cost would close to: $480.00

Its use for only winter... Nov - Feb usually. Anyone comment on where to get lug nuts? I don't want to use the OEM ones mounting and dismounting probably would scar them.

The Blizzaks are ludicrously overpriced (even with tirerack's prices). Check out the Winter Force tire made by Firestone, or even Nokian tires (Hakkapeliitta).

I looked at the Winter Force the 1st review said that the Blizzaks are better in ice traction.

I didn't see the Nokian...

What about these? Dunlop Graspic DS-2 (Studless Ice & Snow) only $59 each so... 236.00 + 128.00 for steel wheels = $364 after tax close to $395

If can find a place maybe Les Swab? Need to find steel wheel for cheap... maybe 80.00 + 236.00 = $316 even better!

According to the tirerack page, "All necessary hardware (lugs, center caps, centering rings, etc.) included at no charge".

yeah i'm going to be going with the stock 17.. and some michelin alpine pa2's.. from discount tire.. that way if i run into an out of round tire, i don't have to put up with the excuses i got from tirerack.. besides discount matches the prices.. which is cool
