Default 35% tint up front to match the rears? 30%?

I did use the search feature, but got a lot of conflicting information. Will 35% be a perfect match or is it 30%?

Thanks Big Fire Man, but I saw that link. That link alone had a lot of contradictory information.

And to you Con Oven, I agree with you on the 35% tint. I am very very happy I chose 35% tint and NOT the 20%. That being said, I would have to say that 30% would be a perfect match. The film I chose only had percentages of 50, 35, 20, and 5. Since they did not have 30, I chose 35.

I just had my fronts done in what they said was 17% and its actually a tad darker... Its not noticeable though and looks pretty good. Id say 20% will match it exactly cause its definitely darker than the 35% on my girlfriends tC. My only real problem was the color of the tint being different from the factory tint but Ive gotten used to it and it all looks good to me and matches just fine.

Unfortunately, AFAIK there is no "perfect match" but good charcoal gray film at 25-30% would be very close. 20% matches pretty well but is noticeably darker and 35% matches pretty well but is noticeably lighter. Of course this is from the outside looking in. Looking out, 20% is much darker and 35% is probably very close.

FWIW, I got 20% and wish I had gone 35% instead. If you can't have a perfect match, I'd prefer to have the fronts lighter than darker. JMO.

ScionFred,

I saw your old thread and it made me choose 35%. I agree with everything you said above... I am very happy with 35% tint.

Cool. I'm glad you're happier with your window tint than I am with mine. Not that 20% is horrible but I don't really like it at night. I may as well give a shout out to D&L Tint in White Marsh, Maryland who talked me into 20% instead of the 35% I asked for.

I was looking at this site: http://www.snaptint.com/car-tint-Sci...-complete.html to do it myself because I'm cheap and broke. Is it very easy to screw up? I could go thru 2 kits and still be half what the tint shop would charge.

Also, from the above link, would you go with Smoke or Charcoal?

Why pay more? Most dealerships usually outsource their customers' tint requests. Just look for a local tint shop that works with most of the dealerships and go to the source.

If anyone is in the Bay Area, I highly recommend Omega Tint located in Pleasanton, CA. Tell Darren sent you with the 08 XB.

i got 20% on my fronts and it matches perfect, but then again it might depend on the brand what matches better.

$75 sounds like a good deal to me.
This is my first ever new car so I am psyched and know nothing about customizing a car.
Windshield strip? I am curious.
