Default aftermarket brake pads

So i just passed the 20K mark on my tC and heard some screetching coming from my brakes.

It only seems to happen when I slow down from third gear or above...but anyway, i have never been "gentle" on my brakes since i've had my tC (i like driving hard and fast what can i say)....and think it may be time for some new pads.

I was wondering which pads you ScionLifers recommend? I was also thinking of upgrading my breaks all together....anyone else considered the same thing? or have done it?

any advice would be helpful. thanks

measure how much friction material you have left on your stock pads. mine lasted about 30-34 thousand miles before a shop reccommended i replace them.

at 20k, unless you have driven really hard, you shouldn't have to replace them.

but if you have to replace them, go with a stop tech stage 1 or 2 upgrade package with slotted rotors.

check www.dezod.com or www.trdsparks.com, they both have them for about the same price.

warranty on brake rotors??? they are a wear and tear item like the brake pads aren't they? and besides, there really isn't anything that can go wrong with a brake rotor.

I have beat on my scion a bit, not gonna lie. And they are screetchin' a little when i stop (but i still stop)...so i think they might be worn, but not all the way...How do i go about measuring?

Did u do the replacement yourself? i don't have capability to replace em myself at the moment (tools, location, resource, etc)....or could i order em and take em to a shop somewhere (like if i, say, had a friend who works at a shop near me who might help me out)

well i know from my warranty because i questioned them about it the rotors are warranteed for 60k mostly because if they warp or something like that or crack essentially they prob wouldn't cover them if there need to be changed but for defaults in the rotor itself they will cover

it is up to you.

if your going to drive and abuse your brakes, might be worth the investment to upgrade the pads, rotors and lines.

it is up to you to determine if you want to pay for it.
