CEL LIGHT FOR NO REASON?

so okay today...when i started up my car..i got a cel light..or a light that said Check with something that looked like an engine to me...so im asssumin cel light and it said to go to dealer when it was lit on the book.
But I only drove my car about 15 miles before this happened..and i went to maryland and back today..so i didnt drive for like 12 hours after i drove 15 miles...can anyone enlighten me?

you tighten your gas cap good enough?
you need to hear clicks...
it's the most common reason for a CEL light to come on without any major issues or mods that a person has done.

not overdue..i change synthetic every 3000 miles...i checked gas cap...it wasnt even clicked on..so i clicked it on but cel light still persists..i assume i just have to reset cel light? im gonna have it looked at tomrrow..oh thanks dude..my car will blow up...ha..after i get the turbo boo ya

yea.. you need to clear that light now that everything is okay.. most people just disconnect the battery for awhile
(don't do it often though... you should make sure to always check what is causing the light before you blindly make it go away)

i was having this problem alot recently, the gas cap kept coming lose, and i kept getting, a CEL
i figured that the leash on the gas cap to the fuel door kept twisting the cap loose as i closed the fuel door, so i decided to chop it off. that should effectely end the problem.
