So I went to Pepboys today to get a transmission fluid for my box because my transmission fluid is running low..the guy from Pepboys said that Scion xB have a special transmission fluid and you can only get this at the dealership.
IS THIS TRUE?? if so how much does it cost? or how much if you just get it replace?

Please help me..Thank you!

He was correct. It uses Toyota Tech IV fluid only sold at the dealer. The good news is that you don't have to drop the pan to change a filter. It ran like 20 bucks for a gallon and it doesn't take the whole can. You can use a full synthetic fluid called Amsoil tho if you can find it for about the same price.
I was just like you when I first went hunting for fluid. I was all like WTF, why isn't any trans fluid companies making this stuff. They had no answers as to why.

How many miles do you need to have to change the filter. And where is it located. Sounds like a maintenance project for me.

you have to drop the pan to change th filter, it is located in the on the trans its self. I just changed mine with 95,500 miles. I had drained it once back at 75,000. This time I took off the pan and completely changed it all out with new. Its not hard to do, and I picked my new gasket/filter set up at the local Auto Zone, was not that much $.

I actually just had mine flushed with Amsoil Universal synthetic ATF. I put it in my wifes Mits Lancer and its still as red as it was when I put it in after 30k miles. I don't know if its the placebo effect but it seemed smoother and crisper with shifts and such after putting it in. Here is the link to there online store. http://www.amsoil.com/scripts/runisa...msoiloaf:index
