Default If you're looking for HID's, then you NEED to know this...

This is what happens when you don't know what you're doing to your car:

Story:
Dude had a high quality kit conversion and it said "plug and play". So, he plugged them into his OEM stock harness. 6 months went by and one light started flickering. Another month past by and one light wouldn't turn on!
So, he checked the ballast to see what was wrong and look at what he found:

So, because this hid kit seller was "cool", he got a new replacement but uh-oh. Two months later, the samething happens!
Damn, he spent 170 for a kit and now he's being charged 500 to replace the OEM harness

Relay harness will help in case anything happens.
Relay harness = $25
OEM harness replacement + electric warranty voided = $500 from your own pocket

can't say the brand but the price was above average. He thought that meant quality as many still do and fall for this false advertisement.
Anyways, what most people don't know is that they all come from the same place and are just re-labeled.
Thing with aftermarket stuff is that there's a 50% chance you will get a good kit and the other 50% you will get a lemon.
The longer the warranty, the better!
However, don't get confused by this "lifetime" warranty. All that means is that they will warrant the product until it dies which is VERY decieving.
Again, this is what happens when a relay harness is not installed.

yep, relabeling HID ballast is nothing new.

your safest bet is to go with an OEM ballast.

Thank you for educating over here. It's hard to get the point across when 98% of the people here swear by the plug and play hid kits and tell everyone that it should be their first mod.

yeah i've seen a civic with a 50w kit! Damn! u know those are bad when a ford explorer with HID's flash his high beams at you
Anyways, the main purpose for this is to know what you're buying before hand. Reading a few feedback and not know the legality of such products is not "teh cool".
You have to read, judge for yourself, and know first-hand what type of setup luxury cars actually use.
Oh yeah, going over 8,000K means halogen output.

DAMN!

Thats why I have bought harnesses to avoid the melting of the stock OEM one. It happen to my maxima, and it caused lots and lots of problems.

I recomend them.

eautoworks.com or hhmm aeautoworks.com
has them for 30.00 a set, for your high beams and low beams, I have both in my car, dont want to repeat the same mistake 2x

Wow, that looks pretty bad.

How much damage was there to the rest of the electrical system? $500 to replace a harness plug?

People definitely need to use a wire harness with any aftermarket kit.
