Default Stock 08 Subwoofer hooked up to after market HU threw RCA?

hey i was thinking since im gonna be using a after market head unit that maybe i could get some better control out of the stock sub threw using the RCA out put on the new HU.. i know on my Alpine CDA-9831 it has a whole bunch of options to tweak the sub separate from the rest of the speakers if it is hooked up threw the sub RCA output ...

im thinking all i would have to do is just find out what wires are the inputs on subs amp harness then cut off the stock wires and connect a spliced RCA and run it up to the output on the new HU.

im trying to work with what i got so dont say replace the sub
do you guys think this would be a good idea?

I'll just go on and let you know: the stock amp on the 6" sub in the 08's is powered by speaker level inputs off the front speakers.

what are you talking about... its has much better bass with the stock sub over the older sound system.. trust me i know quite a few people with 05-07 tc's and its not even close. especially with an after market HU where you can really tune the bass output
