Default BPV

was looking on another thread about this BPV.
http://www.forgemotorsport.com/conte...duct=FMDVSPLTR
i was wondering if anyone has this on the ride and was it easy to setup running a 90/10 split on it (90/10 recirculated/atmospheric split) i read somewhere some guy was running this but couldnt find it again.
i wanted to know if the BPV threw any CEL or any other problems. did it come preset to run the 90/10 split adn how hard was it to tune it to run the 90/10. thanks in advance for all feedbacks.

I was the first to use it. I ran a black one for a few months and switched to a polished one. The biggest problem with using it on our s/c's is that it hisses and chatters horribly in partial boost situations. Dunno if you've heard your oem bpv moan occasionally but that and at idle is when it happens, its just way more annoying. The Splitter itself is a fantastic piece, beautify crafted, etc and works fine at wot ... it's just not for me. I'm now using the Forge 007 with the red spring and a single +1mm home made shim (washer from home depot) I am finally holding boost all the way to 7lbs and swear I feel better acceleration.

Im running the forge splitter valve also. I love it but there are times when i get annoyed at idle when the valve chatters like what bluemeanie said. I like the way it sounds when it blows off.

yup. Forge Motorsport makes products for Audi, Porsche, VW, Seat, etc. The Spliter (SPLT-R) is just a hybrid bov or bpv meaning it is partially recirculated and partially atmospheric. Most hybrid bov/bpvs are 50/50, the splitter is aprox 90/10, 10/90, 100/0 or 0/100 depending on the way you set it.

i wonder if the chatter and hiss is because the amount of boost the stock works with is at the very minimum this thing was made to work for?

the chatter is caused by the evap purge valve running on the same vacuum line as the bpv. when the purge valve activates it causes a pulsation which opens and closes the valve at a rapid rate and depending on how tight u sent the spring on the bpv it will either increase or decrease the chatter noise.
