View Full Version : Shops/Places to Install & Bypass Navigation
7thgear 12-10-2007, 05:16 PM Hey SL!
Just wondering what are some very good reputable shops/places that will install and bypass a navigation system for a good price?
I'm getting a Eclipse AVN5510 and I need it bypass plus for them to modify the bracket so that the radio door will fully close.
A lot of people dislike Circuity City and Best Buy for some reason.
Anyways, let me hear some suggestions of places and the price if known.
Thanks a lot!

oh.. and by any chance, do you know roughly how much it'll cost?
scandalous 12-10-2007, 06:44 PM No clue - talk to Jason and he'll give you a price.
_Doug_ 12-12-2007, 05:58 PM Jason at KingPin Car Audio / Motoring is definitely the place to go.
They also carry the AVN 5510, plugs into factory wiring harness and utilizes factory steering wheel controls....not to mention the best navigation interface in my opinion.
MoScion 12-12-2007, 06:27 PM Most if not all big box retail shops will not bypass the e brake requirement as it is against the law.
For general installations I have had good experiences with Car Toys and Fry's Electronics. I have had not so favorable experiences with Circuit City and Best Buy. I loved Magnolia but they don't do car audio stuff any longer :(.
7thgear 01-29-2008, 04:20 PM so i called up king pin car audio and they won't bypass it for me. i just want it bypass so i can use the POI while driving. i'm not going to watch movies while i'm driving. he told me it's a $5000 fine! so i need another place that's willing to bypass it for me that's also reputable. the install from king pin is $290. that's a little high for me.
thanks.
kkawana 01-29-2008, 04:51 PM eh... you can get it to work w/o bypas by pulling 1 click on the e-brake, it'll give u axs to the nav controlls, but wont engage your brakes at all
7thgear 01-29-2008, 04:53 PM i could... but the thing is i adjusted my ebrake to the point where i only have to pull up about 3 clicks and it's fully engaged.
kkawana 01-29-2008, 04:56 PM oh.....that could be a prob...lol.....
had you not adjusted it like that.... then you could do the ebrake method...lol..thats what i do..
BZinn1 01-29-2008, 10:35 PM Google how to install and do it your self.........they are not hard to install...........the eclipse is easier than the D3 infact......you can do it.........
I think you'll have to do the bypass yourself as no reputable shop will do it out of liability and legality.
robbiej 01-30-2008, 12:56 AM thats what I like about my portable GPS, can disable safety.
BZinn1 01-30-2008, 02:11 AM I did some Google research and it is indeed a simple fix to make it work..........try google.......I put in........bypassing parking brake on eclipse
I came up with 15000 listings on how to do it......give it a try.
Jman007 01-30-2008, 03:51 PM I will do a write up in a little bit on how to do the by-pass. I need to go take some picturse from my car first.
Adorian 01-30-2008, 05:35 PM Heck I was able to do the bypass I'm pretty sure if I can do it a monkey can.
Wiring is NOT my best point.
