View Full Version : Lowering springs 3marcus3 12-11-2007, 04:51 PM Hi all, I'm thinking of putting lowering springs on my gray XD. Can anyone tell me whats involved? Do I need any special tools? Thanks for the help. offroadinfrontier 12-11-2007, 05:43 PM Try doing a few searches. The xD, xA, and xB1 have the same type of suspension (a little different on the xD, but install of springs is relatively the same). http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=20769 http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=84087&highlight= If you have done this to any car, you can do it to these cars. If you've never done it, you can probably still do it. The right tools and a little bit of time are all you will need. The instructions included with your springs should be sufficient. 3marcus3 12-11-2007, 10:34 PM Thanks for the links offroadinfrontier 12-11-2007, 11:52 PM np. again, the suspension isn't exactly the same, but the install is going to be almost identical. i think the bolts are spaced out a bit differently, and the xd doesn't have a rear sway bar stock. the front shocks on the xd are mounted differently, too, but nothing crazy. from what i've read, these little cars (xa, xb1, xd) front springs don't necessarily need spring compressors since the springs aren't in there super-tight (lightweight vehicles and all), but i'd still suggest borrowing some compressors to be safe. AutoZone lends them out for free, and it doesn't really add any time to the installation. always better to be safe then end up with a broken arm/finger/etc. smokeydog001 12-12-2007, 12:32 AM X2 GuiLLo_xD_PR 12-12-2007, 01:29 AM try the yaris 4 doors sedan, that's what i have no complains for now going for 2 months  offroadinfrontier 12-12-2007, 03:30 AM ah boo! sedans are almost always more comfortable, which means more people will want to steal a ride!!! They see a subcompact hatch, and they run (especially the bigger ones, not that i can talk much). Ignore the fact that the Fit, Yaris (slash xD), xA, xB1, and Versa actually have fairly comfortable rear seats ;) Besides, not to be vain or sound like every other backwards-hat-wearing wanna-be gangstah-mofos, but hatchbacks look way cooler ^_^ Marreroj 12-31-2007, 02:04 AM anybody know how much the trd springs lower it? i know theres not alot of "parts" out there for the xd yet but is that the "stiffest" springs or coil overs you can get? |
