Default iPod interface w/ new iPod Classic?

I just got the 160GB iPod Classic. When I hook it up to the xB2's base radio using the factory cable I get nothing. Pressing the aux/iPod button does nothing. Do I have a bad cable? Does anyone else have the Classic and tried this?

My guess would be a bad cable. Do you have access to another ipod?
A quick check would be to go to the dealer and try your ipod in one of their demo cars...

I use a 5-year old 3rdGen 30 gig iPod and a new 80 gig iPod Classic on mine and both work fine.

Can you use anything else but an ipod. I saw the new zune has a very similar looking hook up, anyone tried it? Does any other mp3 player have the same jack?

Nope. The ipod interface is proprietary. You CAN however just plug it into the AUX jack with a 3.5mm headphone cable. You just cannot control it with the H/U.

Ok, finally got to the dealership and tried out a different cable. No go. Tried the cable in the showroom demo, and and it worked fine. Didn't have time to leave it with service, so I have to go back for that. Will update once thats done.

Yeah, too bad, but the Classic should work just fine.
As for the Zune comment, no, it's not the same cable and he doesn't want the value of his box going down

My new 160gb and touch both work, didn't have to change anything from when I was using my old 30gb video.

I just bought an 08 xB with the upgraded sound system.

I went out today and bought a 80 GB iPod Classic.

I plugged the cable in and it sees it and works fine, but, I can't control the iPod thru the pioneer.

Help!!

Nevermind, guys. It works great now. The head unit was set to "Direct Control". Turning this off fixed the problem.

Man it's cool!!
