1st Post ! After removing the pillar tape, i notcied a pretty a big scratch on the fornt passenger side . Its lik a group of lines and looks lik theres not even paint there. Its lik a black smooth coating. I dunno if i had caused it or if it was under the tape the whole time. I was wondering if its possible for scion to retape the pillars and how much it would cost? Thanx 4 all ur help. :(

isn't there a faux carbon fiber thing you can get as an option? Maybe you can get these put on, even though the black parts are missing. Try partznet.com?

Hmm.. just checked and it's b pillar only. Still, it's an idea.

Take it back to the dealer and have them paint it!

Re-taping will probably be a pain in the butt. Either have it painted or do the applique (?) thing. There's a company out there called benvenito or something like that and they make kits that do all pillars I believe.

IMO i would repaint the scratches. i think the tpae is there to prevent the scratches from rusting. as soon as i get some cash i'll have them painted (or tinted) black

my wife has a new Mazda 6 wagon, and the tape was ripped when we bought it. We took it in and they re taped it. Its a perfect match. The dealer did have to order the tape though.

what the heck is a fornt anyway?
if you dont want to go your dealer and waste your money go to walmart or your auto store and get krylon rattle can in semi-flat black and do it yourself, use 3m ultra bright pad and scuff it up,mask it and paint, will look as good as factory.if you dont want to do it urself,i will do it for 1,000d,just kidding!good luck.

Step away from the krylon rack!

You could probably just do it with electrical tape.

It would be easier to go to a vinyl graphics shop and have them cut you some semi-gloss black vinyl. Use some scissors and cut it to the right shape and re-do the tape. Then, when you have the money, take it off and have that area painted. The vinyl graphic tape is way easier to get back off and it won't look bad while you are saving your money... Just 2 cents...

If you use the electrical tape, the sun will make the stuff slimey and sticky. Been there, done that.
