Any one removed the valve cover on the 08' xb and painted it?

do you mean tha actual vavle cover or the plasic cover the covers the valve cover

 

The black plastic piece that covers all (the blue piece in the picture above) sorry this all new to me. I would really like to remove and paint that orange and then do a carbon fiber overlay for the lettering. Does any one know how hard it is to remove and what kind of paint I should use.

That is sweet, what kind of paint did you use...what steps did you take to do it.That looks so good. I got to do mine.

my opinion take off the plastic cover and powdercoat the valve cover and possibly jus get a spark plug cover

 

Like what? There is a intake, header and that is about it in there for parts. The rest of the stuff is stuff I have made or moved. There is dual batteries in the stock location along with 2 curcuit breakers for the vehicle.

 

NoLimitz what kind of paint did you use yo paint the cover,what steps did yo take? Did you sand it first, how many coats ect?

 

I honestly washed the crap out of it. Then I primered it. Did I think 2 coats of primer. Then did about 5 light coats of paint. Making sure that it was fully covered and bright.

 

ditto...and really wash the hell out of it. and pick up some lettering from randode

 

Is there a specific paint that you used? Also did you guys use any clear coat or anything after you painted it? Sorry for all teh questions I just dont want it to chip or look half done...

honestly I do not remember now if I cleared it. I do not think so. I just used some normal krylon paint. Not anything special at all. Just made sure I did alot of coats to make it last.

Thanks....Do you have a problem with the paint staying on? Or you just like changing the color? Im worried that this is going to start to peal because of the heat.
