Default SORRY BUT NEED SHIFTER HELP.

Well i did search and i posted in another thread but i thought id get some help if i started a new topic Well i have doctor isotopes shifter and i took the cage out so it would be easier to put the shifter in. I mean cmon it was pretty dam easy to take out. But now the driver side shifter cable does not twist in order for me to put it back in the cage. This is what im talking about https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...908&highlight=

Exept in my case, i actually twisted it and got it out. I just cant twist it to put it back in. It is seriously stuck , doesnt turn at all. PLease help somebody since i need to drive this car.

I had that exact same problem putting my TRD in. The driver's side cable connector (whatever it's called) seized up on me. After 10 minutes of fiddling with it, I called over my brother and he managed to get it loose. I think he said the spring inside was bound up and just needed to be unbound. Not entirely sure on what he did though. I was too frustrated (then relieved) to care.

Lol o yeah, Thats exactly it. And nychold i thought it was the spring too that wuldnt let me twist it. I actually took the whole spring out, and it still doesnt even turn. The collar pretty much feels like it was never even made to turn, U cant even twist it at all. Yet the cable on the right turns like a champ. And i cant really say i did anything to break it,becuz i was pretty gently with it wen i was takin it out. I just twisted it and lifted it up. Can some1 please help, lol im about to go out to my friends house ,where my car is at, and give it another shot in about an hour. Ive been trying to search everywhere, no luck....

Is there anything wedged up in there? Maybe when you were turning it, the spring popped loose and jammed a washer or a piece of broken plastic in there. After this, I'm pretty much at a loss without actually seeing it.

Yeah i looked, there is nothing wedged up in there, And i cant see any washer that would be stuck. Well itz kinda like that link i sent u. And itz pretty easy to picture if uve seen it in person before. lol wen i go out there ill take a pic, but mann this hella sucks. Theres nothing visibly blocking it, ANd twisting it just moves the collar away from the base of the shifter cable, so thers a wider gap to put in the cage, then wen u release it gets tighter, so as u twist its suposed to get bigger, So theres sumin blocking it from gettin bigger? It just feels so stiff, i cant twist AT ALL not even 1 mm lol. Well thanks for the help guys.

lol gee dint have to change the topic, Well anyway i finally fixed it, For some odd reason all i did was at the grease from the shfiter cage onto the gaps of the cable bushings and after like 2 minutes of tugging it just turned lol.

And RoboCop he doesnt answer emails unless u asked him a questing cuz u need help or something. I sent him payment and told him i wanted 1 inch reduction. 3 days later i got a reciept. IF u mean response as in receipt? It might take awhile, but dont wrry hes a good guy.

well I sent him an e-mail asking for a response. I figured it is probably just that he is on a holiday break or something. I sent him a payment and e-mail on the 22nd.

Yeah very unprofessional for him to go on break. If you placed the payment on the 22nd not only should u have a reciept from paypal, the item should have actually arrived. Sorry to hear but hey itz not like he has a franchise, he does his own work. I say just give him a break. Besides make sure yur ready for the install lol. It was pretty hard for me. Get some good gloves, grease. I used valvoline grease for japanese vehicles. And hmm 2 strong flatheads. and a good hammer. And a second person would be nice.

Ya I got the receipt from paypal instantly. I think he is probably on some kind of break as of right now. A friend sent an e-mail his way with a few questions and hasn't received a response back.

I hope I am ready. I have my brother to help me install it. Everyone makes it look easy to install.

Well you can say the install is simple. Itz not confusing at all, You just gotta be strong becuz alot of it are very hard to do especially without scraping or messing up some of the plastic on the cage. Popping and putting back the 2 clips that hold the top mount of the shifter cage was very difficult for me.

I installed the shifter with out taking out the cage and it wasn't hard at all. only problem i had was the damn crosspin washer. other than that the install was smooth.

Well if you didnt take the cage out, You're missing out on a mod thats pretty good to do. Which is the cage bushings.
