Default I LOVE Toyota and Michaels Toyota dealership! Find out why!

alright, i'll try not to vent...
but i'm currently at Michael's Toyota in Bellevue, Washington...
and so... the cd player in my scion stereo doesnt play cds anymore. Since it is waranteed, i went to michaels to get it changed it. But wait, I have had LED work done to it!? Now they are saying that is what caused my cd player to not play.....
and charging me labor?! but that **** is waranteed!

i'm no certified toyota technician....but i think the LEDs on the front cover dont affect the internals of the cdplayer. Half the people at michaels don't even know what i have in my car..

So now I gotta pay for labor, and to get my LEDs REDONE by jeremy (which will cost another $100)

why did you have to screw me over michaels toyota....why...

give me back my LEDs!!!!

UPDATE
arlighty
i know my faults, and the warantee details
so you got me there

the michaels toyota manager just called though
they somehow worked it out so I can switch the faceplates so i can keep my LEDs

So, in the end, everything worked out. I am VERY sorry if I had offended the dealerships of the Pacific NW. I am proud to be the owner of a toyota, just like you are all proud to work for toyota.

Michaels toyota will go to great lengths to make sure you are taken care of, even for small time modders like me. So please, if you are ever need repairs or work done to your car; go to michaels. They have free wireless internet, a great lounge, and complimentary drinks. For those dealership haters out there, I use to skeptical like you guys. But this whole thing has made me a believer. I guess you just have to find the right one...

Are you just talking to people in the parts/service department?

Did you open the stereo up to change the LEDs (which I'm assuming had to be done). When did it stop playing CDs? Before/after the LEDs? It may be cheaper to take it to a stereo shop for repair.

sorry i didn't mean ALL dealerships, but the ones I have dealt with have not be helpful at all (AKA bob bridge and michaels)

you don't have to open up the stereo to change the LEDS, there is a detachable faceplate held by two screws that lets you gain access to the LEDs. You don't have to open up the stereo at all. I got my LEDs back when I first got my car, which was july 2006, the cd player stopped working in december 2007

alright, Heres an UPDATE

the michaels toyota manager pmed me on scionlife saying he would help me! He says he check scionlife everyday?! thats HELLA tite! Cause I do too, like most of the toyota car enthusiasts on scionlife.

Also, I didn't have to pay for labor, but my LEDs is still a question. The manager said he would work on it.

Its funny cause I have two friends from highschool who work at michaels in the pit. They've always helped me out with what dealers have to offer. I wish I could work at toyota like them.

nonono
lol, I am not that stupid :p
that is the stock stereo with no Ipod connectivity, but I had LEDs done to it too.
The one I had problems with is the one with ipod connectivity and color changing screen. I had the LEDs done to that too, but the CD player stopped working recently; so I went to Michaels to get it changed under warantee.

btw, b wet, what are you doing in the pacific NW forum in your in NW?

just wondering..

Big ups to Jeff for taking care of you.

However, just like opening an Ipod or other electronic product.....you WILL void your warranty. You see the stickers all the time with the warning on them.

tisk tisk for taking advantage of the system.

I agree with Doug.
You should kiss his feet if he doesn't charge you.
You voided your warranty.
Using bad publicity on scionlife is a cheap shot.

ditto, while Michales is really awesome I'm not going to put a CAI on my car and expect them to replace other parts of my intake system if I have problems.

The curse of modding is that (unfortunantly) warranties get voided.

...........
honestly how does anyone really expect the LEDs to affect the CD. That is why I hate warantees, so much fine print and loop holes. I REALLY do appreciate his help, its makes me feel like they value their customers. I love my car, and I know that changing the LEDs will not hurt the CD player.

And they don't know if I will have to pay or not, because they need to send the broken unit back to toyota for evaluation. If they find something wrong on my part, they will charge me. So both ways, I am screwed.

I am not using scionlife as publicity; I wasn't expecting toyota dealers to even be on the forum; cause most of the people at the dealers didn't even know what i was talking about when I talked to them about the stereo. THEY thought the stereo was a whole unit, and they looked at me like they were surprised that I knew more about it than them. How can that be? I'm not a certified Toyota technician?! Doesnt that make you chuckle?

Tell me this doesn't look like a touch up trd:

edit:

honestly how does anyone really expect the LEDs to affect the CD

Because it involves soldering onto an internal component of the unit. You could easily create a short through shoddy work or unintentional inattentiveness, which can and will cause problems. It's not that difficult to understand.

? the seal wasn't broken (i know which seal you are talking about)

That seal is to show that the INTERNAL UNIT wasn't tampered with, NOT the face plate part. There is no seal on the faceplate part, just two screws

And when the work was done, the faceplate was detached. All the lights work so there was no short; and now just the cd player doesnt play.

okokok I understand about the warantee part, but I had told them before hand that I wanted the faceplate back cause I had LED work, or I wouldn't get it changed. They said, "we'll see"

Where did you get your EE?
You "are screwed"?
No, you made a choice, and when you live in the adult world, you need to take responsibility for YOUR actions.
You voided the warranty and took your chances to look cool.
You need to live with that.

Sorry, no sympathy.

alright
I understand that. Please understand that I was not trying to hate on all dealers, or even michaels toyota (I know I came off like that). And I am not asking for your sympathy neither.

I like michaels, if you look on my profile, MOST of my mods are TRD DEALER INSTALLED. I am no rice rocket modder, and yes I changed my amber lights to red cause they would look better.

its funny cause people at events and shows think my car came like that from the dealer; they think its the sporty trim of the tc. And when they ask where I got it, I say Michaels toyota.

man, i love toyota

Yeah, you love Toyota and the dealers...
It's easy to tell because of the thread title.

man, are you like this with your customers?
I love toyota; do you know where toyota is from?
Japan, where I am from
the tc was assembled in japan
I love their cars and parts

I do not appreciate the people that work for them that I have dealt with. So alright, I will CHANGE the topic title so you can feel less defensive.

pleaseeeees stop flaming me cause I had a problem with a dealership and you are getting defensive cause you are also a dealership. You are 46 debating with a 19 year old? I ask you kindly to stop it alright? If people read this thread, they are going to see how mean Big Sky Scion is.

hmm..... i'd wonder if they had a "spare" hu in stock... just for grins and giggles if they'd be willing to switch face plate from your non-working deck to their spare and see if it causes the spare to act the same way...... granted you said its been over a year since you had the LED change till the cd player failed.... but... eh worth a shot
