VoLktc 01-01-2008, 06:09 PM on my way home last night from a new years bash, me and my buddy are just crusing along on our way home and all of a sudden i hear debri, then ALOT of debri and the oil light came on. looks like somebody was murdered. oil on the ground, engine bay and a murder streak on the road. obviously a hole in the block.
I knew it was going to good. just started paying my turbo kit, schools going good etc..
i found a chunk of my block on the road =*( i might post pics but i sure hope the dealer will cover this under warrenty.
Btw i was going 60-65 (the limit).
oh and also it was about 5 am. happy new years
Here are some pics. you can see the metal chunks by bottom of the header laying in the oil =( Thats the chunk of my block i found on the road =(

*UPDATE*
got it to the dealer today, piston through the bottom of the block. They said it will but covered under warrenty but they need to see oil change receipts. The last one they have me as shows me at 13k(when the free ones ran out) they car has 28k on it. They must be out of their minds if they think i would neglect my baby like that. Mobil 1 full synthetic every 5k. I change my own oil, how the hell do i get a receipt for that?? its been 3000 miles since the last one lol
RoboCop 01-01-2008, 07:06 PM That sucks dude. Post some pics and let us know what the dealer says.
SquallLHeart 01-01-2008, 08:04 PM ouch man..
with that turbo kit though... (which i assume is installed?) the dealership won't help you much...
better off calling the junkyard to see if you can find yourself a new engine.. :?
sorry to hear...
boostedbox06 01-01-2008, 08:18 PM chunks of the block? wtf? How does that happen?
VoLktc 01-01-2008, 08:25 PM no no, i just started paying for my turbo, its not on. im guessing i threw a rod through the block but it was 5 am so i really dont know.
Complication 01-01-2008, 08:35 PM wow, I'd like to see more. Pictures is a must
VoLktc 01-01-2008, 08:39 PM well its at the tow yard right now but when it gets the dealer ill take some pics. i couldnt see the hole last night but there was oil all over the road. ima try to keep my engine too if the dealer will let me lol
Nick06tC 01-01-2008, 08:43 PM In for some pics. Could have been a whole in the oil pan from a rock or something.

ohhh.. okay.. that's better.... but hopefully you haven't done any major mods that the dealership could point at like an idiot and blame...
so yeah.. get some pictures up and hopefully things will get better for you.
VoLktc 01-01-2008, 08:50 PM minor stuff like header etc
Nick06tC 01-01-2008, 08:55 PM minor stuff like header etc
The dealer isnt going to find that as minor stuff tho. They can easily say that altering those parts lead to the a/f ratios being different from stock and caused overheating and blew a rod, or something to that fact!
VoLktc 01-01-2008, 08:56 PM my dealer is pretty cool, but if they try that ima call BS and off we go lol
trdtcpr 01-01-2008, 09:43 PM watching!
O5_TRD_tC 01-02-2008, 12:15 AM that sucks man, r u sure u didn't do a bad down shift?
MeatRocket 01-02-2008, 12:33 AM watching also
sweetdreamz 01-02-2008, 12:50 AM Wow man, that sucks terribly! Watching as well...
i can only think of a few reasons...
1. really bad down shift
2. ran something over
3. alcohol...
VoLktc 01-02-2008, 01:04 AM 1. nope was in 5th on the highway
2. negative
3. negative, not that i think a beer would anger the engine god to destry my engine, but negative non the less
O5_TRD_tC 01-02-2008, 01:19 AM u should be good then b/c the dealer can check the ecu if there was a bad down shift.
EPIDEMIC 01-02-2008, 01:36 AM damm sucks bro sorry to hear
Mightygnu 01-02-2008, 01:52 AM change everything back to stock and take it in...
VoLktc 01-02-2008, 03:03 AM its already towed, if i woulda left it until the morning the popo's were gonna tow it. Ive had it serviced before with aftermarket stuff w/o any grief from the dealer
BlizZard 01-02-2008, 07:43 AM u should be good then b/c the dealer can check the ecu if there was a bad down shift.
say you reset the ecu, would they still be able to find out?

people need to quit trying to cheat the system and own up to their mistakes =\

I agree. People are so quick to want to reset t ECU or change back to stock to put the blame on the dealer.
But then there are tons of threads on SL about how someone hit and ran and now they have to pay for thedamage. Or someone hit their car door in a parking lot.
How can people get mad about someone lieing to the, when they turn around and remove their header before heading to the dealer?
(I do realize that not everyone who has a hit and run deceives the dealer, its just a generalization of SL members over two years of posting here)
VoLktc 01-02-2008, 05:41 PM well ill have you know the dealer has my car EXACTLY how it was when it happened so yay for me!
megrog2 01-02-2008, 06:23 PM change back to stock to put the blame on the dealer.
Well most of the time the dealer will try to blame anything aftermarket to get out of warranty work.

This CAN be true, but not in my experiences so far.
But the remedy to this, is to stick your ground and DEMAND proof. There is a law out there to protect the consumer, The Magnusson Act outlines how it works. If they try to blame aftermarkt parts, tell them why it is not true. When you add the aftermarket parts, you know warranty will now be an issue. So you need to be knowledged enough to be able to substantiate YOUR end of it. The dealer can substantiate their end!!
BlizZard 01-03-2008, 12:41 AM ok, so you have no receipts, whats going to happen?
VoLktc 01-03-2008, 01:25 AM The mechanic doing the work at the dealer pulled the oil pan for me and said it was probably gonna be ok. im going tommorow to go check it out. On the bright side of this, I will have a fresh engine for when i go turbo, but this still sucks. i dont like my baby going under the knife
Nick06tC 01-03-2008, 09:25 AM Did he give a reasn for the failure?
VoLktc 01-03-2008, 08:35 PM just got back, didnt take ne pics because they didnt have the engine out. Threw a rod trough the block. the mechanic said he thinks it may be because i floated a valve. =( sad days
