what is this mesh for? i tried removing it but the engine dun idle well.

why are removing stuff that you don't know what it is.
i can't tell that the pic is, but if the engine idles rough without it........ i would leave it alone.

maybe to help chanel the air in some way. my experience has been that if i do not know what a part is for i do not mess with it.

I've never messed with it myself, but I know that on the echo forums, people sometimes like to remove it when they mod their air box. Doubt that removing it helps at all....

wat they remove is in the airbox while the one in the pic is in the manifold

Can you get the better pic? Is it behind the throttle body? You need to see if removing this screen did anything to the seal between the manifold and the t-body. Also it may have affected the air passage near the Idle Speed Control Motor.
The purpose of the screen is to fight the tendency of the incoming air stream to swirl (rotate) as that will slow the air speed. Many cars have the intake manifold runners and intake ports in the heads square shaped for the same reason.

the mesh is together with the o-ring seal,connecting the TB and the manifold.
i remove the mesh but place a gasket to test out but the engine idle is very rough.
so i put it back in..

I guess without the mesh there is an unwanted air leak somewhere.
