View Full Version : offset for 18" on a xd? jays-xd 01-03-2008, 04:56 AM im thinking bout buy 18"s for my xd but im not sure on the offset that would best fit n provide the best handling. the whesls are 18x7.5. which offset is best: 35, 42, or 45? Chibi_Knight 01-03-2008, 10:09 PM 42 or 45. I have 35s on mine and I rub. I think stock offset for xD's are 39 jays-xd 01-04-2008, 04:37 AM thnx for the info chibi zoltiz 01-21-2008, 04:46 PM Stock is 39, but your normal 18" wheel is wider than the 6" stock steelies. Next time when asking the offset question, mention the width of the wheel, not the diameter. Diameter is irrelevant when it comes to fitment. jays-xd 01-29-2008, 04:38 AM Next time when asking the offset question, mention the width of the wheel, not the diameter. Diameter is irrelevant when it comes to fitment. i did. 18x7.5 Tamago 01-30-2008, 06:06 PM diameter is not irrelevant lol.. if you're trying to fit 22's on an xD your offset will change ;) zoltiz 01-30-2008, 09:36 PM If you are trying to fit 22s on the xD you need therapy. Offset wont change, though. If you keep overall diameter of the wheel and tire constant and very close to stock (which you should anyway), then knowing width of the wheel, tire and offset of the wheel will guarantee fitment. Tamago 02-08-2008, 04:12 PM ok dude.. it was only an example.. fyi all you people, 17x8.5 +48 255-40-17 fits nicely :) not enough poke in the rear for my taste, but no rubbing anywhere.. zoltiz 02-08-2008, 04:19 PM I have 18x7.5 with 225-40-18 / 37 offset on mine and thought that it wasn't rubbing either (also didn't have enough poke for my taste). Then one day I did a sharp u-turn and heard the tire catch the fender. I call this rubbing and dangerous. Happened only once in 6K miles, but it's still not acceptable. You really don't want this to happen in an emergency. 255 with 48 offset sticks out even more than mine, so it will definitely get scratched in a hard turn. Tamago 02-08-2008, 04:50 PM how is it dangerous? and where was it rubbing? oh and a little bit of camber will fix that problem ;).. 225's look soo tiny on the xD zoltiz 02-08-2008, 05:01 PM Having the tire getting slashed open when you are trying to avoid a burning wreckage on the hwy is dangerous. Extreme, but you gotta be prepared. 225s are plenty adequate for the xD. It's a small light car - not a Dodge Challenger. 255s are crazy on a FWD grocery getter. How's the gas mileage with these? I have 245s in the back of the Elise and 215s up front - plenty of grip and it's got a lot more hp. Tamago 02-08-2008, 05:21 PM probably gonna go 245's when the time comes. ChelsDS 02-09-2008, 01:06 AM I wish you luck with 245s then. Seems silly but its your choice to ruin your tires/car should anything happen to either. Frankjake 02-12-2008, 01:49 AM I don't mean to be a jerk here but no one has really answered the question. I don't care about the stock, steel wheels with hubcaps. The TRD wheels that can be installed are 18 x 7.5. Does anyone know what the offset on these wheel are? AND if you were to go with an 18 x 8 wheel, what would the suggested offset be? Someone said the stock wheels have an offset of 39 but I didn't know if he was talking about the TRD's or the stock steel rims. Thanks Frank zoltiz 02-12-2008, 02:46 AM TRDs have 42 offset, so 18x8 will work very safe with 48, but if you will keep 225 width tire, you'll be able to get away with 45 offset easily. Frankjake 02-12-2008, 07:24 PM Thank you very much for clearing that up. Leo_EdgeRacing 03-06-2008, 03:48 PM http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b379/destro954/fiveaxis04.jpg These are 18x7.5 ET 42 with 215/40R18. zoltiz 03-06-2008, 04:15 PM Leo, you are a liar, Look up my order details ;) Good to finally see you here, btw. The tires are 225/40/18, not 215, but you are dead on as far as wheel size goes. I've put a 5mm spacer in the back and it works out ok most of the time except for really sharp U-turns at a decent speed - then it chirps a tad. Here's a recent picture: http://zoltiz.com/cars/xD/fiveaxis/xdshoot05.jpg I'll PM you with a tire question. P.S. Guys - Leo here is a great guy representing a great company. I've been buying wheels and tires from EdgeRacing.com for 5 years - service and prices were always extraordinary. Leo_EdgeRacing 03-06-2008, 04:21 PM Whoops. My bad. The last customer that bought the Raze R74 in the same color bought 215/40R18. I thought it was you. My apologies. Leo_EdgeRacing 03-06-2008, 04:23 PM Zoltiz, Did you try running the 5mm spacer in fronts too? If so, what was the result? zoltiz 03-06-2008, 04:26 PM Nope, didn't try the front - I usually don't mess with spacers on drive wheels. Tamago 03-06-2008, 05:23 PM Whoops. My bad. Leo, i'll be getting with you shortly in regards to an xD. ~joel Leo_EdgeRacing 03-06-2008, 09:18 PM Leo, i'll be getting with you shortly in regards to an xD. ~joel Not a problem. Just send me a PM when ready. yorkeight 03-10-2008, 09:20 AM Does any one know what the center bore needs to be? I have not measured it yet. Hey Leo, do you guys have a light weight 18x8/ 45 offset? Or is this just wishful thinking? Tamago 03-10-2008, 01:02 PM 18X8 +48 18.3 lbs http://edgeracing.com/images/wheel/enkei_wheel_nt03_m_(gold)_angle.jpg 18x8 +45 17.9lbs http://edgeracing.com/images/wheel/enkei_wheel_rpf1_(silver)_angle_zoom.jpg zoltiz 03-10-2008, 04:43 PM Well, if you want a light wheel, why go for 18s? These RPF-01Enkeis are only about 15lbs in 17" - awesome wheels. Tamago 03-10-2008, 07:21 PM Well, if you want a light wheel, why go for 18s? These RPF-01Enkeis are only about 15lbs in 17" - awesome wheels. i concur. 17 > 18 ;) Leo_EdgeRacing 03-10-2008, 09:42 PM Does any one know what the center bore needs to be? I have not measured it yet. Hey Leo, do you guys have a light weight 18x8/ 45 offset? Or is this just wishful thinking? Enkei RpF1 is the lightest I have in that size (17lbs). yorkeight 03-11-2008, 04:14 AM I think I am going to agree with the 17" theory. A little bit stiffer sidewall on the tires, plus I retain light weight. And there seems to be more variety as well. Thanx guys! |
