Default tC Remote Keys?

Does anyone know if the new design (>'07) keys will work with the 2006 tCs?
They're more expensive, but look to be a better design.

I found a place online that sells the new design for $179 ($238 list) and the old style for $85.

Not sure that price difference is worth it for a key...

you just need to get the proper immobilizer chip.. that's about really the only thing of concern.

i still honestly like the older design despite the way it wears out.

From what I've been told, no other key would work with any car-- meaning, you can't use an 07 tC key on an 06 tC just like you can't use a Rav 4 key on a tC or a Chevrolet key on a Ford.

But I would check with the dealership just incase-- especially because the keys are so expensive =/

They sell two keys - one with and one without the immobilizer, which is why I thought it might work.
I hate the way my key is worn, and I know it will need replacing soon.
I do have the second one, so it's not like it's critical...

Are the older Toyota keys the same as the valet key? If so, is it possible to program an xA/xB remote to work for the tC?

If so, sign me up; I'm probably the only person that HATES the buttons in the head of the key.

well has anyone broek open the 08 keys?

is it possibly to just take the guts from the older key and swap it out?

just for shiz and giggles.

I wouldnt spend close to 200 for a key

thats to much for just a differant key.

I would spend the 200 on a new key if i lost all 3 of mine ,which i dont see happing

really, that is a bummer, i was thinking that if my key ever wore out for my 05 tc, i could replace it with a new 08 style key so long as i have the chip and programming done. oh well. i like the unique 05-06 original design just fine.

Well, the good news is that they're half the price!
Screw you '07/'08 fools!
