The 15K mile svc. isn't necessary, especially if you do most of your own work. I think there is a "How-To" on how to reset the light...it's pretty easy to reset... :D

well after reading the other topics, the light comes on for oil changes no? cause i changed my oil right after it came on, and did the reset thing with the odometer, like i always do.. this light came on at 15k and i believe its for my 15k service check.. which id rather not put up with.. i know its not the check engine light, cause i know how to deal with that cause of my CAI.. any other suggestions.. and possibly, would low brake pads cause this?

The Service light is factory set to come on every 5K miles (but you can change it downward in 1K increments). It is a reminder system entirely under your control, tied to the odometer but with no connection to the engine. It's is designed as an oil change reminder. At 15K miles an oil change interval coincides with a service interval.

The 15K Service has no maintenance actions that you cannot do yourself. It includes a couple of inspections that an owner may not be knowledgeable about, but unless the car has been driven hard on bad roads, they are unnecessary.

I didn't get the 15k mile maintenence done. my box now has 22k miles on it.

all i do to my box is take it to the dealer for oil changes and once to change the brake pads (nyc is a rough environment to drive a car in).

i dont plan on doing anything else other than oil changes / brake replacement(s) and tire rotations. at maybe 40k miles (i drive ~11k miles a year), i plan to do a big tune up / maybe even the 50k mile service. i say that cuz i want to do it early - i want to take good care of my box and have it live forever ;]
