So I am going to play with fiberglass, any tips for a newbie
After analyzing the fact its a pain to make a box for under the passenger seat, I looked at the cargo area again. Then I thought, what if i made fiberglass enclosures on both sides, so the subs would be firing at each other.
So I went to google and typed in "fiberglass enclosure how to" and 4 hours later after reading, I think i am ready to try it. In the process of locating it locally before I go online to buy everything. I figure I would start out with making one for like a 6.5 using a coffee can as the "car" to get the hang of it. Then I will mold it to the plastic panels on both sides.
My question is, how do you fasten it to the panels? I designed a frame in cad out of mdf, but i am clueless on ideas on how to secure it to the xb.

you'll see that question answered there a lot. US Composites is the good stuff. Read lots of examples for what went wrong, and what ideas saved time, materials, or made it look better.
it sounds like you want to make two of these:

I think those turned out really nice, but the covering isn't exactly my taste.
Here's mine (for some mistakes to learn from):

I like how mine sounds now, but I'd do it completely differently if I thought I could get away with doing another 'glass project. maybe in the summer I can talk the family into going on vacation and leaving me alone for a week.
post questions you have here or there, people will be happy to help, and almost every question's already been asked and answered so "search forum" is your friend!

damn, yeah thats what i am going to make.
I have my design framed by mdf though, all those edges will be mdf. Going to cut mdf into 1" strips and tie them all together for the mold.
biggest problem is since I live on base and in the dorms at whiteman, i dont have the work area to do this. So am going to wait till i move to germany this summer, and when i move into my own house, this will be my frist project.
my parents dont have a big enough garage for this application, and i dont have all the tools yet.

Just remember...gloves( I like the blue nitrile ones), long sleeves, dust mask, eye protection, and do it outside if you don't want your spouse/roommate/cellmate killing you. Oh yeah, and you;re still gonna itch but it's worth it

ny dad used to do fiberglass when he was in the military(aircraft structual mech), so he said hes going to give me some of his tools, and his mask. I just gotta buy a air compressor now, and few stands.
sad part is, the actual cost of the materals is less then all the tools i gotta buy lol
