Default funny noise in rear passenger quarter panel?

I can hear some wierd clanking sound in the back of my old 05 xb in the rear passenger quarter panel. I hear it when i hit bumps and when i am on an uneven road. from inside the car it seems that it is behind the panel in between the door and the rear strut. it is soo annoying and i cant figure out what it is. has anyone else experienced this?

You can push the plastic panel to the side and put your hand inside and feel around for something loose. Is there aftermarket speakers in your Box? Let us know what you find...

inside both of the rear passenger doors there are two foam (supports, sound dampning, or ssomething) pieces that are only held in by some glue and plastic rivits.

the glue may have come loose or even broken and that pieces as a result can rattle inside the door.

the samething happen to me after i hit a bump on the freeway and this was the problem that i found.

it is easy to fix... just glue the piece back on or if you have some heavy duty adhesive you could use that.

My guess is there is a spring loose in its perch or a loose shock

i checked under the car and the suspension looks fine. i sounds like something that is stationary on one end but flapping around on the other. Hey andrew thanks for the tip on the foam things i will check them out today at lunch. the last time i remember those foam things weren't stuck to anything so its a possibility that it could be moving around hitting something else. Man the sound is soooooo annoying.

No, its likely the rear quarter panel, but checking the listed suggestions would be a good idea.

Ever notice out of all the doors when closed, the passenger rear sounds the worse? Like a real twangy sound. I noticed some B's are worse than others, but all of them have it. My 4.0 is the worst in my three.

If you have a sub, or know of someone with a sub, you can see it flex and move.

It doesn't do it on the other side as much because of the gas door, and all the extra metal.

Sound insulation helps allot.

unrelated but my dashboard rattles a lot.

in high RPM's and with Talk radio. its in 3 different places.

ones the speedometer window.. i know that for sure. and the other is somewhere above the glove box and the window.

another i think may be the panel around the door speaker.

i also have a rattle from the back passenger side but i think it was just stuff in the rear cargo compartment rattling around.

Default Wierd Rattle

I just got my box about a week ago, and I have a wierd noise coming from the same place. Mine's an '04, and I know the sound is definately coming from the door. If I open the door and jiggle it back and forth you can hear something rattle.

I think it might be that foam mentioned before. Any suggestions about a better fix than just glueing it back in place? I don't want it to happen again once it's fixed.

So it's the door not where the rear speaker is? I you could take apart the inner door panel and wee whats make all the commotion. Then if thats not it check your rear speakers. hopefully that helps.
